While driving at 55 mph, your check engine light came on and a message indicated the engine was overheating. The dealer found that coolant had leaked into the engine's compression chamber, requiring a complete engine replacement. This happened at 68,000 miles.

The contact owns a 2008 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving approximately 25 MPH, the vehicle stalled. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer and diagnosed the vehicle with #4-cylinder failure. The contact purchased the parts and had an independent mechanic replace the part however, the failure recurred. The approximate failure mileage was 129,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE WRENCH AND ENGINE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT HAD TO MANEUVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER TWO MINUTES, THE VEHICLE RESTARTED NORMALLY, BUT THE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR WAS STILL ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED APPROXIMATELY FIFTEEN TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CODES WERE ERRONEOUS AND THE FUEL THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,965.

I WAS ON THE ON RAMP FOR THE HIGHWAY AND ACCELERATED TO ENTER AHEAD OF UPCOMING TRACTOR TRAILER. I ENTERED THE HIGHWAY AND THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN ON ME. I MANAGED TO GET INTO THE BREAKDOWN LANE BEFORE BEING HIT BY THE ONCOMING TRACTOR TRAILER. I TURNED OFF IGNITION AND WAITED A FEW MINUTES BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO START CAR AGAIN. IT DID START AND I DROVE HOME. VEHICLE SEEMED FINE THE NEXT FEW DAYS EXCEPT FOR AN INCIDENT WHERE CAR WAS OFF, NO KEYS IN IT, BUT BELL KEPT GOING OFF WHEN I OPENED THE DOOR. HAD TWO MORE INSTANCES WHERE CAR STALLED WHEN FIRST STARTED IN MORNING, THOUGHT IT WAS JUST COLD. FIVE DAYS AFTER FIRST INCIDENT IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I STARTED CAR AND IT STALLED SEVERAL TIMES. WHEN I STEPPED ON GAS IT FELT ODD, LIKE IT WASN'T GETTING THE GAS. I PROCEEDED TO PUT IN DRIVE, GOT A THIRD OF A MILE FROM HOME AND THE EXACT SAME THING OCCURRED. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET AND THE CAR JUST COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN WHILE I WAS GOING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH. WOULD NOT START FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES BUT ONCE STARTED I WAS ABLE TO GET BACK HOME. HAPPENED TWO MORE TIMES AND I AM TERRIFIED I WILL BE BADLY HURT OR HURT SOMEONE ELSE BY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. NO WARNING JUST A COMPLETE ENGINE SHUT DOWN. I BOUGHT A 2008 FORD FUSION. I HAVE UNDER 100,000 MILES AND THE OIL PAN CAME OFF AND BLEW MY MOTOR. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED AND ANGRY ABOUT THIS SITUATION. I TOOK VERY GOOD CARE OF THE CAR. GOT OIL CHANGES AND CHECKED THE OIL WEEKLY. THERE WAS NO OIL LEAKS WHATSOEVER. WHEN I CONTACTED FORD I WAS GREETED WITH RUDENESS AND A DON'T CARE ATTITUDE. IS THIS HOW YOU TREAT YOUR CUSTOMERS ON A DAILY BASIS? THERE WAS NO WARNING OR INDICATION THAT THE MOTOR WAS GONNA BLOW UP. I WAS DRIVING 50 MPH WHEN THE CAR MOTOR BLEW OUT. THE CAR WAS NO LONGER FUNCTIONAL AND WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED THAT THE PCM, SIX IGNITION COILS AND SPARK PLUGS ALL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH FORD FUSION 2006-2008 AND OTHER FORD PRODUCTS WITH 3.0L V6 ENGINE. *TR

THIS RESULTS IN DRIVER OPERATING A VEHICLE THAT CAN HAVE CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS LEAVING VEHICLE WITH NO PROPULSION, POWER STEERING, POWER BRAKES AND UNABLE TO NAVIGATE TO A SAFE LOCATION AND MAY ALSO GENERATE METALLIC ENGINE DEBRIS ON ROADWAY POSING A HAZARD TO OTHER DRIVERS. A BURNING SMELL WAS DETECTED AFTER MY 2008 SEL AWD WAS DRIVEN/HOT. MY MECHANIC SAW OIL ALL OVER THE EXHAUST AND CLEANED IT ALL OFF AND DID A DYE TRACE TO LOCATE THE LEAK. THE LEAK IS THE REAR HEAD GASKET! I NEVER HAD A WELL CARED FOR CAR LEAK THIS EARLY. I ALWAYS GOT OVER 200,000 MILES ON MY BUICKS. THE COST TO REPLACE A HEAD GASKET ARE IN EXCESS OF $2100-$2500! AND AS A NOTE, THE MECHANIC WHO FOUND THE ISSUE DOES NOT EVEN DO MAJOR ENGINE REPAIR ON THIS LEVEL SO THEY WERE NOT MAKING IT UP. *TR
