Your 2023 Ford Explorer has rolled backward and forward while parked on your driveway with the engine off, the transmission in Park, and the electronic parking brake engaged. This happened multiple times in light snow on a sloped driveway, including one instance where the vehicle rolled into the street. Even after the dealer replaced the parking pawl in December 2025, the vehicle rolled again in January 2026 in both directions. The parking brake and transmission Park function may not be reliably preventing the vehicle from moving when parked.

Your moonroof cover opened backward and a small plastic piece broke off, causing the rollaway cover to slip out of its track and tilt downward. When this happened, a metal rod that normally keeps the cover straight slid out and came dangerously close to a child's head. The dealership repaired this issue, but it represents a serious safety hazard.

Your car completely shut down while parked and wouldn't start again—the doors wouldn't unlock, the hatch wouldn't open, the key fobs didn't work, and your Ford app went blank. A Ford dealer tested the battery and said everything checked out fine, but the problem remains unexplained. This is concerning because it could happen while you're driving in traffic. The fix may involve diagnostic testing to identify an electrical system malfunction, possible battery replacement, or software updates.

Your 2023 Ford Explorer has a safety recall (25S72/25V442) related to the back-over prevention system that hasn't been resolved after two dealership visits spanning nearly two months. The dealership technician believes the APIM (infotainment/control module) needs to be replaced or reprogrammed, but Ford corporate hasn't authorized the work yet. Your vehicle is experiencing the problems the recall is meant to fix, and you're frustrated by the lack of progress on this safety issue. The fix will likely require Ford to authorize and perform a software update or replacement of the APIM module at the dealership.

Your Explorer automatically shuts off after 30 minutes of inactivity, which could be dangerous if someone is left inside the vehicle unaware of this feature — particularly children who might be napping. The air conditioning will stop running when the engine shuts off, creating a potential safety hazard. You may need to disable this auto-shutoff feature in your vehicle settings or contact Ford to explore options for modifying this behavior.

You took your 2023 Ford Explorer to Al Piemonte Ford in Melrose Park, IL on September 15, 2025 to have a recall repaired, and the dealer told you it was fixed on September 19, 2025. However, over a month later, the NHTSA website still shows the recall as "not repaired" on your vehicle. You need to contact the dealership or NHTSA to verify the repair was completed and have the recall status updated in the system.

Your Explorer's center console cup holder has a design flaw where cups tip at an awkward angle and can fall into the console, forcing you to look down while driving. This distraction is a known issue Ford won't fix under warranty, instead charging $500–$800 for repair. The fix likely involves replacing the cup holder assembly or redesigning how it secures cups in the console.

Request for Inspection and Service – Transmission & Water Leak Issues on 2023 Ford Explorer I’m reaching out regarding my 2023 Ford Explorer, as I’ve recently experienced two concerning issues that I’d like to have inspected and resolved: Transmission Behavior: The vehicle has been showing signs of abnormal transmission performance, including -- “hesitation when accelerating,” “jerky gear shifts at low speed,” or “delayed engagement when shifting from park to drive”. These issues are becoming more noticeable and impact the vehicle’s drivability and safety. Water Leak: I've also discovered a water leak, going down second row seat belts and getting water in corner of sunroof itself. I suspect it may be related to sunroof coming to a complete seal when shut via the buttons on vehicle even though it should be sealed, which I've read may be a known problem on this model. The vehicle is still under warranty, the vehicle has less than 36k milese on it, and I would like to schedule an inspection at your earliest convenience. If there are any recalls, service bulletins, or warranty coverages related to these issues, please let me know. I’d also appreciate a diagnostic without incurring fees for problems that may fall under warranty or known concerns. Thank you in advance for your attention to these matters. I look forward to your reply with next steps. Best regards, [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

my vehicles checked for a light came on. The Ford State it is not an emergency and that the vehicle can be driven, but it does need to have somebody at the Ford dealer fix it. Appointments are two weeks out. There are several problems with this number one most important I have lost signals I don’t know how you can say you can drive a vehicle and have no signals, number two. : I only have wipers on rapid speed. Number three, and of course this is just a luxury. The wiper on the rear window of the SUV does not work at all. Number four: the alert covers the main part of the vehicle screen very distracted. You cannot clear it. You cannot get rid of it even if you say OK.I think this should be a recall from everything I read there are tons of people who have this happening with this particular year and vehicle I do think it’s a safety hazard. I’m going to try to get my vehicle in sooner than the 13th. I’ve had the appointment now for almost a week. I just thought you folks should know. I don’t know if this is the appropriate form or not.

Loose carpet under front seat. Could cause carpet on driver side to buckle up causing gas peddle issues. Had ford dealer look at it but refused to remedy issue. This could cause issues like Lexus had years ago with gas peddle sticking.

The rear camera on my Explorer shows a blue screen most of the time and this has become a serious safety issue. A few weeks ago while backing out of a parking spot I almost hit a pedestrian who came out of a double-parked car because the pedestrian was in my rear view mirrors blind spot. Luckily a passenger in my car saw them and alerted me. The remedy for this recall was supposed to be available after August 7th. I have tried multiple times to get my vehicle in for repair. I have complained to my Ford dealer and opened a case with Ford customer service. They each told me something different and I'm not sure what to do now.

While on interstate at 70mph, the front sunroof exploded. Sounding like a gun going off.. was no vehicles in front of me to cause debris.. after pulling over to see what happened I could tell the glass was pushed up away from vehicle. Not only was this safety concern for me. But also the vehicles behind me that had to suddenly stop and avoid the flying glass..

Your sunroof headliner sags downward when the sunroof is opened. This is a cosmetic issue with the interior trim above the sunroof opening.
