Your car has repeatedly lost engine power, requiring three computer replacements and multiple coil replacements over two years—despite Ford being aware of the problem. The shop explained that internal circuit boards are shorting out and burning the ignition coils, which keeps happening even after repairs. Each time this occurs, you lose all power and must have the car towed, creating a safety risk on the road.

You've been pulled over multiple times due to the non-functioning lights, which is a safety concern. We have maintained this vehicle from its start. It has been developing a burn out on both rear turn signals in the last two years. The bulbs seem to require replacement more than once every six months. The bulbs seem to be overheating and actually melting the plastic between the bulb glass and the insert itself. Viewing this online it seems to be a problem that goes back for years and yet Ford maintains it is not their problem. I feel it's dangerous and could cause a fire if this continues and seems to affect a majority of customers.

IT STARTED STALLING, AND LOSING POWER WHILE DRIVING. WHEN THE AC IS TURNED ON IT STARTED DRIVING ROUGH AT LOW SPEEDS BUT WHEN THE AC IS OFF IT RUNS ROUGH AT HIGH SPEEDS. THE THROTTLE BODY SEEMS TO BEESSED UP IT NOW RUNS ROUGH AND IDLES ROUGH. IT'S ALMOST LIKE IT DOESN'T HAVE THE CORRECT FUEL TO AIR RATIO.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR SENSOR ERRONEOUSLY INDICATED THAT THE DOOR WAS OPEN, WHICH CAUSED THE INTERIOR LIGHTING AND EXTERIOR MIRROR LIGHTS TO REMAIN ILLUMINATED WHILE DRIVING. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.

BOTH TAIL LIGHTS HAVE BURNED HOLES THROUGH THEIR OUTER CASINGS. THEREFORE, WHEN I BRAKE THERE IS NO DIFFUSION OF THE BULB, JUST THE BRIGHT LIGHT OF THE BULB SHINING. MECHANICS AT MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP ADMITTED THE PROBLEM IS CAUSED BY FAULTY WIRING, WHICH MAKES THE BULBS BURN TOO HOT, RESULTING IN THE MELTING OF CERTAIN AREAS OF THE PROTECTIVE CASINGS. BUT AFTER INFORMING FORD MOTOR COMPANY OF THE ISSUE, INCLUDING SENDING PICTURES OF THE DAMAGE, I'M STILL BEING ASKED TO PAY FOR ALMOST HALF OF THE REPAIR; THIS WHEN I DIDN'T CAUSE THE PROBLEM AND I'M STILL COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY PACKAGE OF UP TO 10 YEARS OR 100,000 MILES. I'VE REVIEWED OTHER COMPLAINTS, AND I'M NOT THE FIRST PERSON TO DEAL WITH THIS EXACT ISSUE. SOME HAVE HAD FORD COVER THE COSTS, AS THEY SHOULD, AS IT IS THEIR EQUIPMENT THAT IS FAULTY. BUT OTHERS ARE IN THE SAME BOAT AS ME, WAITING FOR THE COMPANY TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR PRODUCT. AS THE CONSUMER AND A NON-CAR EXPERT, I HAVE NO GRASP ON THE RANGE OF POTENTIAL DAMAGE OR HAZARD THIS PROBLEM POSES. I DON'T KNOW IF BURNED BULBS AND MELTED CASINGS ARE THE EXTENT OF THE PROBLEM, OR IF I'M DRIVING AROUND WITH THE CHANCE OF A FIRE LOOMING. 2009 FORD EDGE -- MAJOR ISSUE-- FORD NEEDS TO COVER COSTS--- I WAS DRIVING MY 2009 FORD EDGE SEL APPROX. 4 MILES. ONCE I ROLLED TO A STOP AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT THE CAR BEGAN TO IDLE AND THEN STALLED. NO WARNING LIGHTS.. I STARTED THE ENGINE AND PRESSED THE GAS (NO ACCELERATION). THE ENGINE RAN AT AROUND 1-2K RPM. I PRESSED THE GAS AGAIN, NO ACCELERATION. I SHUT OFF THE CAR CALLED AAA FOR A TOW. I STARTED THE CAR ONCE MORE TO CHECK THE GAUGES, NO SERVICE LIGHTS. WHEN I CHECKED THE OTHER INDICATORS IT STATED, CAR TEMP -- OK, OIL PRESSURE - OK, ETC... ALL OK.. NO WARNING LIGHTS, NO ISSUES. THE CAR WAS IN ABOUT 1.5 MONTHS AGO FOR OIL, 3-4 MONTHS FOR SERVICE. ABOUT 8-9 MONTHS AGO, MOROONE FORD OF MARGATE (UNDER WARRANTY) FIXED AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE (WHERE NO LIGHTS WERE SHOWING) THEY CLAIMED IT WAS A FORD ISSUE AND THEY REPLACED IT (NO COST). WELL NOW THIS HAPPENED AND MOROONE FORD OF MARGATE SAID, "BLOWN ENGINE, $7,700 TO REPLACE + $400 FOR COOLING FAN." THEY SAID THE COOLING FAN BROKE (NO WARNING) AND THE ENGINE BLEW. NO WARNING, LIGHTS, ETC... WHEN I LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD WAITING FOR AAA (NO SMOKE, NO SMELL... YET A BLOWN ENGINE (FULL REPLACEMENT)... I WILL FIGHT THIS BECAUSE I BELIEVE THIS IS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE THAT THEY TRIED TO FIX PRIOR AND THIS HAPPENED AGAIN. I ALSO DON'T BELIEVE THE ENGINE WAS DESTROYED. HOPEFULLY THE GOVERNMENT AND FORD WILL RESEARCH AND COVER THE REPAIRS / REPLACEMENT. NO WARNING LIGHTS OIL TEMP -- OK OIL PRESSURE -- OK CAR IDLED AND STALLED... APPROX. MILES 82,000. *TR
