Your car experienced an electrical fire about a month after you installed a replacement battery purchased from AutoZone. The fire started while driving in traffic, causing smoke and burning smell from under the hood, melting battery cables and damaging the alternator and cooling system. The mechanic determined the battery overheated dangerously and likely caused the fire. Resolving this will require extensive electrical system repairs, including new battery cables, alternator inspection/replacement, and cooling system assessment.

The locked door emblem sporadically comes on and stays on. It makes my interior lights stay on. It runs my battery down. The back passenger side door was opened by a rider and the lock all doors button had been engaged. The red light was on to show doors were not locked. This has been an ongoing issue for several months now. I have an appointment at Ford garage 09/13/22.
Problem with the computer for dash. Was worked on at Ford dealership in Lexington ky and had to borrow money with the lender that was already financing the vehicle for me for repairs. They was unable to repair it but still charged me almost 1,800.00.
The rear taillight socket melted due to excessive heat. This has happened twice to the same vehicle. Once in 05/2019. At the time, a dealer service center recommended replacing the junction box, a $700 repair. The same issue has occurred again.
REAR TAIL LIGHT BULBS ARE MELTING, SEVERAL TIMES NOW, AFTER DOING RESEARCH IT SEEMS TO BE HAPPENING TO A LOT OF PEOPLE, SO I SEE IT AS A SAFETY ISSUE. WHEN WERE DRIVING THE CAR IT LOSES POWER(THE TRACTION CONTROL JUST COMES ON FOR NO REASON) , WHEN WE GO ABOVE 70 OUR ABS LIGHT COMES ON, OUR BRAKES RANDOMLY JUST START GRINDING THEN THEY WILL STOP, WE HAVE REPLACED THE BREAKS LAST MONTH.

I REMEMBER A RECALL ON THE WHEEL HUB AND I HAVE HAD THE TRUCK FOR ABOUT 2 YEARS AND I DON'T RECALL GETTING THE PROBLEM REPAIRED BUT MY VIN RETURNS BACK NO ACTIVE RECALLS AND I CAN NOT HELP BUT WONDER IF THERE IS AN ERROR.

VEHICLE INITIALLY WOULD NOT ACCELERATE BEYOND 10 MPH THEN COMPLETELY LOST POWER IN THE MIDDLE OF RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. LOCAL REPAIR CENTER REPORTED ISSUES WITH PCM AND WAS UNABLE TO FIX IT. SENT IT TO A FORD DEALER WHO CONFIRMED ISSUES WITH PCM THAT DAMAGED THE BODY THROTTLE, 3 ENGINE COILS, AND OTHER PARTS. HAD TO REPLACE PCM AND PARTS DAMAGED BY IT RESULTING IN A $2894.10 REPAIR BILL. THE FOLLOWING DAY AFTER REPAIR, WAS AGAIN IN THE MIDDLE OF RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC AND THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY LOSS POWER AGAIN. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN AND BASED ON RESEARCH, A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME THING. FORD NEED TO RECALL THIS ISSUE. I'M SO THANKFUL MY CHILD WAS NOT IN THE VEHICLE DURING THESE EVENTS.
BOTH THE REAR TAIL/STOP LIGHT BULB SOCKETS MELT FROM EXTREME BULB HEAT. THIS ISSUE IS POSTED BY OTHERS ALL OVER THE INTERNET. THIS IS A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD THAT SERIOUSLY NEEDS ADDRESSING BY FORD. IN THE PAST I REPLACED THE RIGHT REAR BULB WHICH IS WHEN I DISCOVERED THE ISSUE. YESTERDAY I HAD TO REPLACE THE LEFT REAR BULB AND DISCOVERD THAT SOCKET TOO IS MELTED ALONG WITH THE BASE OF THE BULB ITSELF.

THE SUNROOF STAYS OPEN AND CANNOT CLOSE UNLESS THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED AND MANUALLY FORCED CLOSE. THE SUNROOF MECHANISM TO CLOSE TO GLASS BREAKS EASILY. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE PANORAMIC SUNROOF, BUT IS EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE TO FIX. THE DEALERSHIP IS WANTING TO CHARGE BETWEEN $1900 - $2500 TO FIX AND TWO PLASTIC CLIPS THAT CLOSE THE SUNROOF, BECAUSE THEY ARE INDICATED THEY HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE TRACK SYSTEM, AS THE SPECIFIC SMALL PART THAT NEEDS REPLACING IS NOT AVAILABLE.

MY TURN SIGNAL BULB SOCKET FRIES REPEATEDLY. THIS WILL BE THE FOURTH TIME IN 2 YEARS REPLACING IT. IT BURNS UP THE SOCKET AND MELTS THE BOTTOM OF THE LIGHT BULB. I GOT THE PARTS FROM FORD DEALERSHIP ALSO BUT I HAVE READ ONLINE ANY PEOPLE HAVING ISSUES WITH IT. IT JUST GOES OUT ALL OF A SUDDEN.

DRIVER'S DOOR AJAR LIGHT COMES ON. MAKING A DINING SOUND CONTINUOUSLY, TURNING INTERIOR CAR LIGHTS ON, AND WON'T ALLOW DOORS TO LOCK. BUT THE DOOR IS SHUT. JUMP STARTED THE VEHICLE AND THEN FOUND THAT WHILE RUNNING AND DOORS CLOSED, THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT WAS ON AND ALL DOME LIGHTS. CHECKED ALL DOORS MULTIPLE TIMES, STILL WOULD NOT SHUT OFF. TRIED TO LOCK DOORS WHILE ENGINE RUNNING AND SINCE THE CAR BELIEVED A DOOR WAS OPENED IT IMMEDIATELY UNLOCKED ALL THE DOORS. NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO TRAVELING WITH A RISK OF A DEAD BATTERY AGAIN OR ON THE HIGHWAY WITH NO ABILITY TO LOCK THE DOORS. SEEMS FORD HAS EXACT SAME ISSUES WITH OTHER MODELS. THEY NEED TO RECALL THE 08S AS WELL.
MY 2008 FORD EDGE (SINCE I BROUGHT IT) HAS BEEN HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE, ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON THE PANEL WILL LIGHT UP( WRENCH LIGHT, AIRBAG LIGHT, TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT...ETC) THE ODOMETER WILL GO OFF AND HAVE ONLY DASHES, THE CAR WILL THEN HAVE A LOSS OF ACCELERATION. THE CAR FEELS LIKE IT IS TRYING REALLY HARD TO STAY IN GEAR OR CHANGE GEARS.THIS WILL HAPPEN ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 60MPH AS WELL AS LOCAL ROADS AT LOWER SPEEDS. I WILL HAVE TO PUT MY HAZARDS ON AND PULL OVER ON THE SIDE. WE FIGURED OUT THAT IF YOU DISCONNECT THE CABLES ON THE BATTERY FOR A FEW MINUTES THEN RECONNECT THE CAR WILL THEN RUN AGAIN OK. THIS IS A SERIOUS HAZARD. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN HIT SEVERAL TIMES ON THE HIGHWAY DUE TO THIS ISSUE AND HAVE BEEN HIT FROM BEHIND GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY ALREADY. THE BLINKERS STOP WORKING. YOU DO NOT KNOW THIS UNTIL COP STOPS YOU. UPON INSPECTION I FOUND THAT THE SOCKET HAD MELTED AND HAD THAT MOLTED LOOK TO THEM. THE LIGHT BULBS HAD BURNT OUT. THIS NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO SINCE IT IS A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD. DRIVER DOOR AJAR LIGHT REMAINS ON AFTER CLOSING THE DOOR SEVERAL TIMES. ONCE LIGHTS FINALLY GO OUT, IT WILL POP RIGHT ON AGAIN, EVEN AS I WAS DRIVING. OUR VEHICLE BEGAN TO STUTTER WHILE DRIVING DOWN A 4 LANE HIGHWAY AND THEN SUDDENLY TURNED OFF WHILE CAR WAS STILL IN DRIVE AND IN MOTION. ONCE THE ENGINE TURNED OFF ON ITS OWN THE POWER STEERING DID NOT WORK MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO STEER TO THE SIDE OF ROAD. CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP PROBLEM WAS NOTED AS A FAULTY PCM WHICH CAUSED THE COILS TO OVERHEAT AND CAUSE BOTH THE PCM AND COIL TO FAIL. COILS WAS SEVERELY MELTED FROM OVERHEATING AND MAY HAVE EVENTUALLY CAUGHT ON FIRE. FORD WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM AND STATES THAT THE MANUFACTURE DATE WAS ACKNOWLEDGED IN A TSB 14-0059 BUT THAT THERE IS NO RESPONSIBILITY OF FORD MOTOR COMPANY END. COST TO REPAIR WAS $3000 DUE TO TSB STATING THAT CUSTOMER NEEDS TO REPLACE ALL COILS AND PCM WITH A UNIT THAT DOES NOT CAUSE OVERHEATING AND LOSS OF POWER TO CAR

THE NOISE AND LIGHTS ARE A MAJOR DISTRACTION. THE OTHER PROBLEM WE HAVE EXPERIENCED WITH THE VEHICLE BUT HAVE HAD FIXED IS THE TWO REAR WHEEL BEARINGS HAVE BEEN REPLACED. THE FIRST WHEN THE VEHICLE HAD ONLY 36,000 PLUS OR MINUS A THOUSAND OR TWO AND THE OTHER WHEN WE ONLY HAD 60,000 MILES ON VEHICLE. THIS IS EXPENSIVE AND SHOULD NOT GO BAD IN THAT SHORT OF TIME. WE DO NOT PULL ANYTHING WITH THE VEHICLE OR DRIVE IT ROUGH.

I LEFT AND DROVE VEHICLE HOME AND SAME PROBLEMS WERE OCCURRING, I RETURNED AND AFTER CALLING AND SAYING SAME THINGS WERE OCCURRING. I HAD HPED TO SPEAK TO [XXX], WHO WAS AN AMAZING SERVICE SUPERVISOR, BUT HE WAS NOT THERE AND ANOTHER MAN WHO WAS RUDE CLAIMED THE BATTERY WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY BUT THAT IT WAS NORMAL TO HAVE OILY SLUDGE ON THE BATTERY . HE SAID IT WAS "NORMAL, BECAUSE IT WAS JUST SWEATING". HE REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING..SAID THE BRAKES NEEDED TO BE AT 3 BEFORE FORD WOULD REPLACE THEM. I ASKED THAT HE CONTACT FORD CORPORATE AND INQUIRE. HE SAID, "NO HE WOULD NOT" THE BATTERY I SHOULD ADD SINCE I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN REPEATEDLY REPLACED. THREE DAYS AFTER PASSING MY ANNUAL TEXAS STATE INSPECTION WHILE DRIVING THROUGH TOWN I INITIATED MY LEFT TURN SIGNAL ONLY TO HAVE THE INDICATOR BLINK VERY QUICKLY (NOT THE NORMAL TICK-TICK-TICK BLINK). THIS HAD HAPPENED A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO SO I KNEW ONE OF THE BULBS HAD BURNED OUT ON THE LEFT SIDE. I WENT TO THE LOCAL AUTO PARTS STORE, PURCHASED REPLACEMENT TAIL LIGHT BULBS & BULB GREASE AND ASKED IF THEY COULD CHANGE IT OUT FOR ME. UPON REMOVING THE COVERS, THE YOUNG MAN DISCOVERED A FRIED/MELTED ASSEMBLY. THERE IS NO WAY TO REMOVE THE BULB IT IS SO MELTED IN THE SOCKET AND THE SOCKET IS DISCOLORED FROM THE HEAT. THAT MUST HAVE BEEN SOME POWER SURGE TO DO THAT KIND OF DAMAGE. *TR
THE "DRIVER DOOR AJAR" MESSAGE CONTINUES TO GO OFF ON OUR 2008 FORD EDGE. THE DOOR IS SECURELY CLOSED. THE LIGHTS WILL STAY ON FINALLY CAUSING A COMPLETE DRAIN ON OUR BATTERY LAST NIGHT DURING THE NIGHT. THIS IS A BIG SAFETY CONCERN AS THE DOORS DO NOT LOCK SOMETIME UNTIL SEVERAL MILES DOWN THE ROAD. MAKING A LEFT TURN USING MY TURN SIGNAL, THE TURN SIGNAL LAMP ON THE DASHBOARD STARTED TO FLASH VERY RAPIDLY. I RECOGNIZED THIS AS A BURNED-OUT LAMP. AFTER STOPPING I CHECKED TO FIND THE LEFT REAR LAMP WAS NOT BLINKING. THE BASIC RUNNING LIGHT WORKED HOWEVER. UPON REMOVING THE ASSEMBLY, I FOUND THE LAMP SOCKET PARTIALLY MELTED AND CHARRED. I REMOVED THE LAMP, WHICH TESTED OUT TO BE GOOD. THE SOCKET HAD FAILED. I THEN REMOVED THE RIGHT-HAND REAR LAMP ASSEMBLY AND FOUND THAT IT HAS BEEN VERY HOT AS WAS SOMEWHAT CHARRED. ONE MORNING, THE SIRIUS RADIO RECEPTION WAS DEGRADED TO THE POINT THAT THE SIGNAL COULD ONLY BE HEARD WEAKLY AT FULL VOLUME. I WORKED THROUGH THE DIAGNOSTICS WITH SIRIUS AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A FORD HARDWARE PROBLEM. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE FORD DEALER, WHO CHARGED ME $98 TO RUN A DIAGNOSTIC THAT POINTED TO A BROKEN ANTENNA MOUNT ASSEMBLY, WITH A PRICE TAG OF $600 BEFORE LABOR. I DID NOT ACCEPT THE OFFER. TWO WEEKS LATER, THE PROBLEM SUDDENLY RESOLVED ITSELF AND RECEPTION RETURNED TO NORMAL. AT NO TIME DURING THIS PROCESS DID I MESS WITH THE CONNECTIONS TO THE RECEIVER (IN THE SPARE TIRE COMPARTMENT) OR THE "ANTENNA" THAT SITS ON THE SPOILER.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT ANY PRIOR WARNINGS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THE BATTERY WAS RECHARGED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,800 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 8,000.
VEHICLE STALLS WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE 18 MONTHS. THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES. TWICE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND ONCE ON A LOCAL STREET. THE FIRST EVENT THE VEHICLE HAD APPROX 2K MILES. THEN AGAIN AT APPROX 12K AND 14K. WHEN IT HAPPENS THE DASH GOES DARK, YOU LOSE ALL POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. VEHICLE CAN BE RESTARTED IN NEUTRAL WHILE MOVING. DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN UNABLE TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. WHENEVER IT IS DARK OR CLOUDY, THE CONTACT IS UNABLE TO READ THE NUMBERS ON THE SPEEDOMETER. THE FAILURE HAS OCCURRED EVER SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT DOES NOT KNOW HOW FAST HE IS DRIVING. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY DID NOT ASSIST IN REMEDYING THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT PURCHASED AN ANGLE MIRROR IN AN ATTEMPT TO HAVE THE LIGHT REFLECT OFF OF IT; HOWEVER, THAT DID NOT HELP. HE BELIEVES THAT IT NEEDED TO BE MANUFACTURED DIFFERENTLY BECAUSE ON DAYS WITHOUT BRIGHT SUN LIGHT, IT IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO DETERMINE HOW FAST HE IS DRIVING.
