ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2011-2015 Dodge Journey vehicles manufactured July 19, 2010, to May 26, 2015 and equipped with 2.4L engines. In the affected vehicles, the engine cover may detach from the engine and contact the exhaust manifold.
Fix: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will install an improved mounting system for the engine cover, free of charge. The recall began on October 15, 2015. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is R32.

Car just shut off out of nowhere but turned back on when I put it in park and started it
The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 45 MPH, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where the failure was undetermined. The vehicle was not repaired; however, the failure recurred two days later. The vehicle was able to restart. The vehicle was taken to a different dealer where the failure was undetermined. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 151,978.
Last year on or about June 17, my transmission gave out completely on me while driving up hill on a 2way road. My vehicle is available for inspection, but the transmission has already been replaced with a used transmission. This event put my life and others at risk because my car completely stopped working on an incline with no indication it was going to give out. My father was actually imjured in his attempt to help me stop the car from rolling backwards. The day it happened I took my car to be assessed at our local Dodge dealership, and had it repaired by an independent contractor. As mentioned before there were no warning signs that it was going to fail. No signs of overheating and/or weird noises.
Just before my warranty was up I got a check engine light and the car started running really rough almost like it was gonna die when I came to a stop. I called the dealership and they told me they would try to get me in at the next availability. With the end of my warranty closely approaching I told them this wasn’t an option. They finally got my car in after I made a few demanding phone calls to the right people and come to find out that somehow some hardware in my engine came loose and it was causing very abnormal wear on my lifters and so they “fixed” the problem. Fast forward a few months and now I’ve been having an annoying ticking noise coming from my engine. I tried using Seafoam, nada. I tried using Lucas High Mileage additive, no dice. So I took it to a trusted mechanic as it is now well outside my warranty and he told me “it’s your lifters” which I already had a feeling it would be just by listening to the sound as between and idle and acceleration. So being I have over 167k miles on it it’s not even worth fixing. Oh and just a side note, my mechanic also mentioned to me that he fixed 4 other Journeys that week which tells me that Dodge has a serious problem with these model cars that they will not address. Oh and just for the record, I have the garbage 3.6L Pentastar engine

CATALYTIC CONVERTER BEGAN MAKING A POPPING NOISE AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO. THEN ON JULY 14 2020 WAS DRIVING TO THE DENTIST WHEN I NOTICED A RATTLING SOUND IN THE AREA WHERE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WOULD BE.
DROVE TO A RESTAURANT, SITTING THERE WITH CAR FULLY ON AND RUNNING AND IT BEGAN TO IDLE DOWN AND SHAKE BEFORE SHUTTING OFF. DIAGNOSIS CODE IS SAYING 6TH CYLINDER OF THE ENGINE. I HAVEN'T HAD ANY PROBLEMS BEFORE THIS HAPPENED. *TR
OUR 2014 DODGE JOURNEY'S ENGINE IS CONSUMING OIL WITH NO WARNING. WITH NO WARNING LIGHT/ALARM OR PUDDLES OF OIL ON THE GROUND, I HAD TO ADD OVER 3 QUARTS OF OIL TO THE ENGINE. DUE TO THIS, THE ENGINE HAS FAILED BEYOND REPAIR. THIS WAS PRESENTED IN THE MANNER OF HARSH CLANKING AND BANGING WITHIN THE ENGINE WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY. AFTER HAVING IT TOWED TO A LOCAL SHOP, IT WAS FOUND THAT METAL SHARDS WERE CONTAINED WITHIN THE OIL FILTER. THE VEHICLE NOW DOESN'T RUN CORRECTLY EVEN WHEN NOT IN MOTION.
CAR SHUTS OFF AT SPEED HAS LIGHT ON ON DASH NOT SURE WHAT IT IS
SINCE OWNING THE VEHICLE, BOUGHT BRAND NEW, EVERY SO OFTEN WHILE DRIVING THE RADIO AND ALL THE LIGHTS WOULD TURN OFF AND THEN COME BACK ON. RECENTLY WHEN DRIVING MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. AT THAT POINT IT WAS A FRIDAY NIGHT MY MECHANIC WAS ALREADY CLOSED SO WHEN HE OPENED BACK UP ON TUESDAY I CALLED TO BRING THE CAR IN AND ON MY WAY THERE THE CAR STARTED MAKING A HORRIBLE NOISE. WHILE DRIVING DOWN A BUSY ROAD I FELT THE ACCELERATION GIVE AND I COULD NOT GET IT TO ACCELERATE SO I STARTED TO MAKE WAY OFF THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE ENGINE JUST DIED. HAD IT TOWED TO MY MECHANIC WHERE HE CANNOT FIGURE OUT WHY IT DIED. THERE WAS NO WATER, ALL THE FLUID LEVELS WERE PERFECT. HE WAS BAFFLED AS TO HOW THE ENGINE COULD JUST DIE. HE SAID HE HAS NEVER SEEN THIS HAPPEN FOR NO REASON. FINALLY FOUND AN ENGINE TO REPLACE IT A MONTH LATER, BUT THAT ENGINE HAS 96,000 MILES ON IT.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000. THE VIN WAS INVALID.

LIKE OTHERS ON THIS SITE, I EXPERIENCED A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT INDICATING A MISFIRE ON CYLINDER 3. I HAD THE VEHICLE REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY AT CHAMPION DODGE IN INDIANAPOLIS, IN. THE SHOP STATED THEY REPLACED THE ENTIRE CYLINDER HEAD DUE TO A LEAKING VALVE. UPON RETRIEVING THE REPAIRED VEHICLE, THE SAME ISSUE IMMEDIATELY AROSE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE SHOP AND THE SHOP IS NOW SURMISING THEY RECEIVED A DEFECTIVE PART. I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THE SAME ISSUE OCCURRED TWICE WITHIN A DAY DUE TO A DEFECTIVE REPLACEMENT PART. EITHER THE SHOP DID NOT REPLACE THE PART, OR CHRYSLER HAS A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH THEIR CYLINDER HEADS. THIS ISSUE APPEARS TO BE COMMON, WAS RECOGNIZED BY CHRYSLER ON THE 2011-2013 MODELS, BUT IS NOW AN ISSUE WITH MY 2014 MODEL. I HAVE CONTACTED A CUSTOMER CARE REPRESENTATIVE AT CHRYSLER WHO MADE ONE ATTEMPT TO CALL AND IS NEVER AVAILABLE.
ENGINE LIGHT ON: THE ISSUE IS A DESIGN FLAW IN THE HEAD AND CYLINDERS OF THE 2014 V6 ENGINE OF THE DODGE JOURNEY 2014. THE FLAW ALLOWS BURNING FUEL VAPOR TO ESCAPE AND CAUSE BURNING AND CARBON AROUND THE CYLINDER HEAD. THE HAZARD HERE IS THE CONTINUED DISINTEGRATION AND CARBON DAMAGE CAN CAUSE THE ENGINE TO LOCK UP WHILE DRIVING.
APPEARS THAT THE GASKET BETWEEN THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION IS LEAKING OIL. THIS VEHICLE IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD. I STILL OWE ALOT OF MONEY ON THIS VEHICLE AND HAVE CHANGED THE OIL ON A REGULAR BASIS. NOW THIS !!!! NOT RIGHT !!!!

TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE MOUNTAINS AND THE ENGINE LITE KEPT COMING ON SAYING OIL EXTREMELY HOT , YOU WILL LOOSE POWER, AND I DID. I HAVE HADEN IT TO SAHARA DODGE, TOOK IT FOR A DRIVE TO THE SAME AREA WITH THE SERVICE SUPERVISOR AND HE SAW EXACTLY WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT. HE NEVER DOCUMENTED HIS FINDINGS AND LEFT THE DEALERSHIP 2 DAYS LATER CLOSING MY STAR ACCOUNT. A NEW MANAGER TONY SUPPOSEDLY TOOK IT FOR A TEST DRIVE, LIED SAYING A CHRYSLER REP. W/ THE STAR ACCOUNT WENT WITH THEM FOR THE TEST DRIVE, WHEN IN FACT HE NEVER WENT. THEY SAHARA DODGE ARE NOW CLOSING THE ACCOUNT AND REFUSE TO ADDRESS THE SAFETY ISSUES ANY LONGER.
