ARIZONA MOBILITY PRODUCTS (AMP) IS RECALLING ONE 2005 AND ONE 2007 CONVERSION VANS BUILT ON DODGE GRAND CARAVAN CHASSIS EQUIPPED WITH VMI/RICON 6-WAY POWER SEAT BASES. THERE IS A POSSIBILITY OF A DEFECTIVE WELD AT THE JOINT BETWEEN THE PIVOTING PLATE AND THE PIVOTING PLATE PIN.
Fix: AMP WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND REPAIR VEHICLES FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON JUNE 10, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT AMP AT 1-602-385-5988.

While using your seat warmer on high, you noticed a burning rubber smell and found two holes burned into your driver's seat when you got out. The seat warmer had worked fine many times before this incident. Turning it off likely prevented the seat from catching fire. The seat warmer heating element may have malfunctioned or failed, requiring replacement of the seat warmer assembly or the entire seat.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING FOR APPROXIMATELY 2 HOURS WITH THE STOW AND GO REAR SEATS DEPRESSED DOWN INTO THE FLOOR. WHILE PARKED, THE CONTACT TOUCHED THE METAL BARS THAT WERE EXPOSED ON THE BACK OF THE SEATS AND WAS BURNED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED HIM THAT THEY WOULD SEND AN INVESTIGATOR TO EXAMINE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NEITHER EXAMINED NOR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 140,000. UPDATED 11/16/10. *LJ
