TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TWO REAR DRIVER AND PASSENGER WINDOWS WOULD JUST FALL DOWN ON THEIR OWN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER AND WHO ADVISED HER THAT THE ACTUATORS FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 170,000.
THE ELECTRONIC DRIVER SEAT STOP WORKING AND THE BACK WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR. *TR
3 OF 4 POWER WINDOWS FAILED TO WORK WITHIN 2 YEARS OF PURCHASE. NOTHING WAS DONE TO CORRECT THIS, WHEN ADDRESSED TO THE DEALERSHIP I WAS TOLD THE TOTAL PRICE OF PARTS AND LABOR (FULL PRICE). *JB
TWO POWER WINDOWS FAILED. ONE MOTOR BURNED OUT OR SHORT IN RIGHT SIDE REAR PASSENGER SIDE. DRIVER DOOR WINDOW STUCK IN COLD WEATHER, ALL PLASTIC COMPONENTS BROKE AND LAYING IN THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDOW. THIS WAS NOT A FORCED LOWERING OF THE WINDOW.*AK
I BOUGHT A 1999 DODGE DURANGO FROM CARTER CO. DODGE. I DID NOT START HAVING PROBLEMS WITH ANYTHING UNTIL ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO, WHEN THE PASSENGER REAR DOOR LOCK AND WINDOW WERE BEGINNING TO HAVE PROBLEMS OPENING. THE WINDOW FINALLY QUIT WORKING AND NOW THE DOOR IS ALSO HAVING PROBLEMS OPENING. JUST RECENTLY THE REAR TAILGATE DOOR HAS STARTED ACTING UP ALSO. SOMETIMES IT WILL OPEN AND OTHER TIMES IT WILL NOT. IT WONT OPEN EVEN IF YOU USE THE KEY. I AM AFRAID THIS IS GOING TO LEAD TO A MAJOR PROBLEM IF THESE LOCKS AND WINDOWS QUIT WORKING ALL TOGETHER AND I HAVE A PROBLEM GETTING OUT OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER SPEAKING WITH THE WOMAN THAT OWNED THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO ME, SHE INFORMED ME THAT SHE HAD REPLACED THE DOOR LOCKS TWICE AND WAS TIRED OF HAVING TO DO THIS, SO SHE TRADED THE DURANGO IN. I AM AFRAID THIS IS GOING TO BECOME A SAFTEY HAZARD, AND WOULD LIKE TO SEE THIS MATTER INVESTIGATED TO SEE IF THERE ARE MORE COMPLAINTS THAN JUST MINE. THANK YOU PATTY GIBSON. *AK
TWO FRONT POWER WINDOWS BROKE WHEN THE WINDOWS WERE ROLLED UP OR DOWN. VEHICLE HAD BEEN TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHO TOLD CONSUMER THAT THE LITTLE PLASTIC PIECE INSIDE THE DOOR FRAME BROKE OFF. *AK

DURING THE LIFE OF MY DODGE DURANGO, I HAVE HAD TO HAVE SEVEN ELECTRIC WINDOW MOTORS REPLACED.*AK
MOTORS ON THE WINDOWS HAVE FAILED THREE TIMES IN FOUR YEARS ON TWO REAR WINDOWS WITH VERY LITTLE USE. *JB
THREE OF THE POWER WINDOWS FAILED PREMATURELY. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED THESE UNITS BE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY BUT WAS DENIED. *NLM *JB
BOTH SIDEVIEW MIRRORS OBSTRUCTED THE CONSUMER'S VIEW WHEN SHE ATTEMPTED TO MAKE A TURN, THE DEALERSHIP STATED THE MIRRORS WERE HEATED AND COULD NOT BE REMOVED. TS *JB
SEAL AROUND ALL WINDOWS ON BOTH SIDES ARE WEAK/DISFIGURED/BUMPY AND OUT OF SHAPE, NOT KEEPING WATER FROM ENTERING COMPARTMENT. OWNER IS AWARE OF OTHER DURANGOS WITH SAME PROBLEM. *AK CONSUMER STATES SEALS RUSTED AWAY AND WERE REPLACED AT HER EXPENSE. *SLC
THREE WINDOWS ON MY 99 DODGE DURANGO HAVE FAILED. ONLY THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW STILL WORKS. THIS IS ODD BECAUSE IT'S THE ONE WHICH IS USED THE MOST BY FAR. I FIND IT HIGHLY UNUSUAL THAT ALL THREE OF THE OTHER WINDOW MOTORS HAVE FAILED. I BELIEVE THERE MUST BE A DEFECT IN THE WINDOW MOTORS ON MY VEHICLE. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORTED TO THE MANUFACTURER AND IF DODGE HAS AGREED TO REPLACE THESE DEFECTIVE PARTS.
POWER WINDOWS WILL NOT GO DOWN. WIRES WERE BURNED. DEALER WAS ORDERING A WIRE ASSEMBLY. DEALER HAS REPLACED MOTOR 3 TIMES.*AK

I THINK THAT THE WINDSHIELSTHAT DODGE IS USEING ARE OF A POOR STANDARD. I WANTED TO MAKE THIS COMPLAINT TO SEE IF OTHER CUSTOMER WERE HAVING THIS PROBLEM. I DO NOT FEEL SOMEONE SHOULD HAVE TO PAY NEAR 18000 DALLORS FOR A CAR AND ITS WINDSHEILD NOT BE ABLE TO STAND UP TO A SMALL IMPACT. PAT AT THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THE PIN DOT NICK IN THE WINDOW CAUSE THE CRACK. I EXPLAIN TO HIM THAT IT MOST BE POORLY MADE FOR IT TO CRACK THAT MUCH IN ONLY 450 MILE OF DRIVING. THE NICK IN THE WINDOW WAS VERY SMALL AND HAD TO BE POINTED OUT TO ME . I DID NOT SEE IT UNTELL HE POINTED IT OUT.I CANT SEE HAVING TO PAY $472.00 TO GET THE WINDOW FIX. I THINK THAT THE DEALERSHIP SHOULD HAVE TO FIX OR BE WILLING TO HELP. I ALSO WOULD LIKE TO KNOW OF OTHER COMPLAITS OF THIS TYPE.*AK
REAR WINDOW WAS BLOWN OUT BY WIND, HAPPENED A SECOND TIME ON APRIL 7, 2001. *AK *JB
THE LEFT FRONT POWER WINDOW HAS FAILED 4 TIMES, THE RIGHT FRONT WINDOW HAS FAILED 2 TIMES AND EACH OF THE BACK WINDOWS HAVE FAILED ONCE. THE FIRST TIME THE WINDOW FAILED WAS 3 MONTHS AFTER VEHICLE PURCHASE. SINCE THEN THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN FOR WINDOW REPAIR AT 6 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE, 14 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE AND NOW WITH THE LATEST TRIP 22 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE. AT THE LAST VISIT THE DEALER REQUIRED US TO PAY $175 FOR THE REPAIR OF ALL FOUR WINDOWS. ALTHOUGH OUR VEHICLE IS OVER ITS MILAGE FOR WARRANTY I BELIEVE IN A CASE SUCH AS THIS WHERE THERE IS AN OBVIOUS PROBLEM WITH A PARTICULAR PART WE SHOULD HAVE HAD THIS REPAIR DONE FREE OF CHARGE REGARDLESS OF WARRANTY. WHILE PARKED IN PARKING LOT, IT WAS BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION THAT MY LIFTGATE WINDOW HAD SHATTERED. AFTER CLOSER INVESTIGATION IT WAS REASONABLY CONCLUDED THT THE GLASS MUST HAD BEEN DEFECTED. BECAUSE FOR IT TO JUST SPONTANEOUSLY SHATTER LIKE THAT WAS ODD. *AK
PASSENGER SIDE POWER WINDOW FAILED WITH WINDOW IN DOWN POSITION.*AK

THE BACK HEATER VENT DID NOT WORK IN THE DODGE DURANGO WHEN WE BOUGHT IT, BUT WE DIDN'T REALIZE IT FOR A MONTH LATER WHEN IT GOT COLD OUTSIDE. IT TOOK OUR DEALER ALMOST ALL WINTER TO GET A HEATER SWITCH FOR MY DURANGO. I STILL DO NOT HAVE A NEW SEAT BELT FOR THE DRIVERS SIDE AND ITS BEEN ALMOST A MONTH SINCE THE DEALER SAID THEY WERE GOING TO ORDOR IT. NOW I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF MY DODGE DURANGO IS ONE OF THEM THAT IS ON THE RECALL LIST FOR A NEW BRACKET FOR THE FUEL TANK. *AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE 40MPH & HAD ROLLED DOWN REAR WINDOW AND VEHICLE WOULD EXPERIENCE AN EXTREME PRESSURE CHANGE. THIS CAUSEED THE VEHICLE TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. THIS CAN HAPPEN WITH EITHER 1 OR BOTH REAR WINDOWS DOWN & FRONT WINDOWS UP. *AK
WHEN THE RADIO IS ON THE EXTERIOR REARVIEW MIRRORS VIBRATE EXCESSIVELY, MAKING IT HARD TO VIEW CARS APPRAOCHING FROM THE REAR. DEALER REPLACED THE MIRRORS AND PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. *AK
THE OUTSIDE REAR VIEW MIRRORS BLOCK SIDE VISION AND CREATES SEVERE BLIND SPOTS WHICH CAN LEAD TO ACCIDENTS.
SHATTERED REAR SIDE WINDOW WHILE DRIVING. SHATTERED REAR HATCHBACK WINDOW WITH CAR TURNED OFF. PAINFUL PRESSURE NOISE WHEN TRAVELING WITH REAR WINDOW DOWN.
THE OPTIONAL 6X9 OUTSIDE REARVIEW MIRRORS CREATE A BLIND SPOT FOR CONSUMER.
FIRST INCIDENT WAS WITH FAMILY IN CAR. WE HEARD A LOUD POP, LIKE A BALLON POPPING, TURNED AROUND AND NOTICED THAT THE RIGHT REAR WINDOW HAD SHATTERED WITH NO EVIDENCE OF IMPACT WITH AN OUTSIDE OBJECT. THE SECOND INCIDENT OCCURED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND PARKED. AGAIN A LOUD POP AND THE REAR WINDOW SHATTERED WITH PIECES FALLING INTO THE TRUCK AS WE DROVE HOME. IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE TWO INCIDENTS THE TRUCK ALSO WHEN DRIVEN AT 45 - 50 MPH WITH DRIVER OR REAR PASSENGERS WINDOW DOWN CAUSES PAINFUL PRESSURE.
THE SIDE MIRRORS ON THE DODGE DURANGO PLUS ARE 6X9 INCHES ...SIZE AND PLACEMENT OF THESE SIDE VIEW MIRRORS SEVERELY IMPEDE THE DIRVER'S VISION OF APPROACHING TRAFFIC, PARTICULARLY FROM THE LEFT. THIS IS A SERIOUS THREAT TO THE SAFETY OF ALL PASSENGERS.
THE SIDE MIRRORS ON THE DODGE DURANGO PLUS ARE 6X9 INCHES AND ARE PLACED ON THE VEHICLE SO THAT THE DRIVER'S VISION IS SEVERLY IMPEDED. CARS AT THE LEFT OF THE VEHICLE DISAPPEAR FROM SIGHT. WHEN TURNING LEFT THE DRIVER OF THE DURANGO MAY NOT BE ABLE TO SEE A CAR IN THE ONCOMING LANE WITHOUT LEANING UP TO LOOK OUT THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. THESE MIRRORS ARE ALSO A HAZARD WHEN TRYING TO USE THEM TO CHANGE LANES. I CONTACTED MY DEALER THAT TOLD ME THEY CAN PUT A SMALLER MIRROR ON THE TRUCK FOR TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS EACH! PLACEMENT IS AS ATTRIBUTABLE TO THE PROBLEM AS MUCH AS SIZE.
WHEN DRIVING AT ABOUT 50MPH AND CONSUMER ROLLS DOWN THE REAR PASSENGER OR DRIVER WINDOWS THE VEHICLE BEGINS TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY, AND CAUSES PAINFUL PRESSURE ON EAR DRUMS. WHEN COTACTED DEALER THEY WERE COOPERATIVE, BUT COSTUMER SERVICE WAS VERY RUDE ABOUT THE SITUATION. *AK
