Your fuel tank developed a crack where the filler tube connects, causing fuel to leak and creating a strong gasoline smell in your garage—especially when the tank was full. An independent service center found the plastic fuel tank was leaking around the filler opening and recommended replacing both the fuel tank and fuel pumps as a precaution, warning that fuel dripping onto the exhaust heat shield could have caused a fire. The repair cost $4,437.03 and involved replacing the fuel tank and pumps with Mopar parts.
