The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Charger. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was a ticking sound coming from the engine. Additionally, the vehicle was bucking, surging, hesitating, lost motive power, and had an engine misfire. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the failure was due to premature wear of internal components within the engine. Additionally, the rocker arms, lifters, and camshaft were faulty. The contact was informed that the engine had failed and needed to be replaced. The engine was replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 206,000.
oil filter housing failed at 70,000 miles. The issue caused leaking oil to contaminate the environment and burn on the auto components that caused smoke and unsafe driving conditions. The oil filter housing failed and due to oil loss the check engine light came on. My repair mechanic said that this is a common issue and there is a limited stock of replacement parts due to the issue. Online research shows that Dodge stopped manufacturing of this part and only after market replacements are available.
PLASTIC OIL FILTER HOUSING CRACKED IN MULTIPLE LOCATIONS CAUSING MULTIPLE PERSISTENT LEAKS. OIL LEAKS ONTO MANIFOLD. REPLACEMENT PART WAS RECEIVED WITH HAIRLINE FRACTURE PRESENT AND OIL LEAK PERSISTS. MECHANIC CONTRACTED LOCAL DEALERSHIPS AND RECEIVED 45 DAY BACK ORDER ON THIS PART. I CALLED MYSELF AND WAS GIVEN NO ETA ON NEW STOCK.
I NOTICE OIL DRIPPING FROM UNDER THE CAR ON SUNDAY. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER ON MONDAY MORNING AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THE ENGINE OIL COOLER AND FILTER HOUSING ADAPTER. I WAS TOLD IT IS VERY COMMON ON THE 2014 DODGE CHARGER AND THEY HAVE BEEN BACK ORDERED BUT I WAS LUCKY BECAUSE THEY JUST GOT A SHIPMENT IN SATURDAY. I WAS TOLD IT HAS BEEN LEAKING FOR A WHILE BEFORE I NOTICED IT DRIPPING FROM UNDER THE CAR. IF THIS IS HAPPENING TO A LOT OF THESE CARS WHY IS IT NOT RECALLED? I HAD TO PAY $900 TO FIX SOMETHING THAT SHOULD HAVE NEVER BROKE IF IT WAS MADE OUT OF THE RIGHT MATERIAL AND NOT PLASTIC.
RECENTLY MY CAR WAS FOUND TO HAVE AN OIL LEAK. IT APPEARS TO BE COMING FROM THE HOUSING/COOLING UNIT FOR MY CAR. FROM DOING RESEARCH IT IS FOUND THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH ALL 2014 DODGE VEHICLES. THIS IS CAUSING OIL TO POOL IN THE BOTTOM OF THE ENGINE. THIS IF THE OIL IS NOT CHECKED REGULARLY CAN CAUSE A MASSIVE MALFUNCTION OF THE ENGINE OR EVEN A VEHICLE FIRE.
2014 DODGE CHARGER WITH PENTASTAR V6 DEVELOPED LIFTER TAPPING AND CAM DAMAGE AT 117,000 MILES. ENGINE HAS HAD MAINTENANCE PERFORMED BEFORE OWNERS MANUAL GUIDELINES. WHEN ARRIVING HOME FROM WORK A LOUD TICKING SOUND WAS HEARD AND AT THAT TIME THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND TOWED TO DEALER WHO STATED THE CAMS WERE DAMAGED WHEN LIFTERS CAME LOOSE.
VEHICLE AIR COOLING SYSTEM FREQUENTLY SHORTS OUT, BLOWING HOT AIR INSTEAD, EVEN WHEN ON MAX COOL MODE. THIS HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREETS OR WHILE STATIONARY; BUT DEPENDING ON OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE CAN ALSO HAPPEN ON HIGHWAY. IT SOUNDS AS IF THE COMPRESSOR SHUTS OFF. I HAVE ALREADY HAD THE SYSTEM RECHARGED THE LAST TWO SUMMERS AND HAVING THE SAME ISSUE NOW. NO FREON LEAKS WERE FOUND. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 DODGE CHARGER. WHILE DRIVING 25-30 MPH THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL TICKING NOISE DETECTED. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CRYSTAL CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF BROOKSVILLE 14358 CORTEZ BLVD, BROOKSVILLE, FL 34613 (352) 597-1265 WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LIFTER AND CAMSHAFT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED HOWEVER, THE PARTS WERE ON BACK ORDER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO REFERRED CONTACT BACK TO THE LOCAL DEALER FOR ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 121,000. THE VIN WAS INVALID.
IN MY CAR THE OIL FILTER ASSEMBLY WAS LEAKING OIL AND WAS REPLACED. I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH EVERY 3.6L ENGINE BY DODGE 2014 AND UP. I SPOKE WITH A DODGE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE AND HE SAID IT WAS THE WORST DESIGN THEY HAVE EVER PUT ONTO THIS MOTOR DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF CARS THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE. I FEEL THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE DEALT WITH ASAP BECAUSE FOR NUMEROUS REASONS. FIRST REASON BEING OIL FLYING THROUGHOUT THE ENGINE CAB CAN CAUSE A FIRE. SECOND REASON BEING THAT OIL LEAKING WHILE DRIVING CAN CAUSE DANGEROUS DRIVING CONDITIONS FOR OTHER MOTORISTS WHETHER IT'S SLIPPING ON OIL LEAKED BY MY VEHICLE OR FROM OIL BEING SPRAYED UP FROM MY VEHICLE COATING THEIR WINDSHIELD. ALSO ANOTHER DANGER FOR ME THE OPERATOR IS THE NAUSEOUS SMELL OF OIL BURNING GOING THROUGH MY HEATING SYSTEM IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. I HOPE THAT YOU SEE THIS COMPLAINT AND TAKE IT SERIOUS AND INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE BECAUSE I TRULY FEEL THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS HAZARD. I HAVE SINCE HAD THE PART REPLACED WITH AN UPGRADED PART THAT DODGE OFFERS. AND I HAD IT INSTALLED BY THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM DUE TO BEING MUCH CHEAPER. THANK YOU!
SHEARED ROCKER PIN POSING INJURY AND OR DEATH TO OCCUPANT OR OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 DODGE CHARGER. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PULL OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO HESITATE AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT CALLED AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE PISTONS AND THE CYLINDER HEAD NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO TEMPE CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE (7975 S AUTOPLEX LOOP, TEMPE, AZ 85284) WHERE THE DIAGNOSIS WAS THE SAME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 136,000.
DEFECTIVE LEFT CYLINDER IN PENTASTAR 3.6VL ENGINE. MY CAR WAS BUILT IN SEPTEMBER 2013. IT HAS THE CONSTANT TICKING AND PUTTERING ASSOCIATED WITH THE DEFECT. DRIVES FINE, MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON, BUT WHEN IDLE IT SHAKES/KNOCKS UNCONTROLLABLY. MY MECHANIC EDUCATED ME ON THE DEFECT AFTER MANY ATTEMPTS AT REPAIRING THE SEVERE MISFIRING. CONTACTED DODGE AND CHRYSLER AND WAS INFORMED THAT BECAUSE MY CAR IS A 2014 CHARGER IT DID NOT HAVE THE 150,000 EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR HIS KNOWN DEFECT IN CHARGERS FROM 2011-2103; NOTING MINE WAS BUILT IN 2013.
WHEN I START MY CAR I HEAR A TICKING SOUND COMING FROM MY ENGINE AS I ACCELERATE THE NOISE BECOME LOUDER AN FASTER. I WAS TOLD IT COULD POSSIBLY BE MY ROCKER ARMS OR LIFTERS. I'VE DONE OIL CHANGES, IGNITION COIL REPLACEMENTS AN SPARK PLUGS AN SOUND CONTINUES.
SO I'VE BEEN GOING TO DEALERSHIP GETTING A OIL CHANGE SPARK PLUGS CHANGE ETC AND ALSO ALL RECALLS DONE AT SAME DEALERSHIP WHICH I DONT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH BUT I'VE COME TO NOTICE THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS OIL FILTER ADAPTER THAT SEAMS PRETTY CRAZY BUY THE WAY MANUFACTURE BUILT SUCH FAULTY PIECE THAT IS IN A HIGHLY MANTIENCE AREA THAT WOULD PUT MANY NICE CARS ON SIDE OF HIGHWAY OR EVEN STALL FROM RUNNING A MOTOR FROM A FAULTY PIECE AS A DODGE DRIVER I WAS HIT WITH THIS PROBLEM THINKING I WAS GOINNG IN FOR A OIL CHANGE TO HAVE MAJOR WORK DONE BY THIS FAULTY PART THAT IS ON ALL 3.6 ENGINE NO MATTER CHARGER OR JEEP OR CHRYSLER 300 SO I THINK IT WOULD BE HIGHLY APPRECIATED FOR YOU GUYS TO RECALL THIS SO I CAN NOT BE OUT OF 1300 DOLLARS BECAUSE OF THIS FAULTY PART THAT AT MOST SHOULD HAVE BEEN A 100 DOLLARS OUT OF POCKET FOR FULL SYNTHETIC OIL WHICH IS ALL I RIDE AND ALSO ONLY DEALERSHIPS CHANGE DODGE DEALER THAT IS SO I'VE READ MANY FORUMS ON THIS I JUST NOTICE THEY SAY WE SHOULD REACH OUT TO YOU GUYS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
MY DODGE CHARGER CAUGHT FIRE AND WAS A TOTAL LOSS DUE TO THE ENGINE OVER HEATING... THE FIRE MARSHAL AND INVESTIGATOR STATED THAT THE ENGINE HAD A MALFUNCTION... ALL THE PARTS ON MY VECHILE WAS THE ORIGINAL.... I PURCHASED MY CAR BRAND NEW OFF THE LOT AND ONLY TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR ANY WORK PRIOR TO MY TOTAL LOSS....MY CAR WAS SITTING PARKED WHEN THE FIRE OCCURRED WHICH STARTED UNDER THE HOOD AND I DIDN'T HAVE ANY WORK DONE ON MY CAR PRIOR TO THE FIRE.

CAR EXPERIENCED RAPID ALTERNATOR FAILURE. REQUESTED DODGE REPAIR AS PART OF RECALL, HOWEVER THEY REFUSED STATING RECALL WAS LIMITED TO 160AMP ALTERNATOR AND MY CHARGER HAD 180AMP. AFTER SOME RESEARCH IN CHRYSLER FORUMS, BOTH THE 160AMP AND 180 AMP ALTERNATORS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME TYPE OF FAILURE. BOTH SHOULD BE ON THE RECALL LIST!
LIFTERS WENT BAD WITH ONLY 37000MI ON IT CAUSING THE CAMSHAFT BE GET WORN.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 DODGE CHARGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD A STRONG HESITATION, EXCESSIVE SMOKING, AND THE SERVICE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT RANDOMLY ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES SEVERAL TIMES AND WAS NOT ABLE TO PROVIDE A PERMANENT REMEDY FOR THE CONDITION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES AND WAS NOT ABLE TO PROVIDE A SOLUTION TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,000.
AT 5,500 MILES, WHEN I WOULD ACCELERATE INTO TRAFFIC, I WOULD LOSE POWER TO MY PEDAL. MY PEDAL WOULD BE NON RESPONSIVE FOR UP TO 40 SECONDS WHEN THE ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON. AFTER ABOUT 40 SECONDS, IT COULD COME ALIVE AND CATCH, BUT BY THEN, I AM IN DANGER BECAUSE THE CAR BEHIND ME THINKS I'VE ACCELERATED TO FLOW INTO TRAFFIC. DEALERSHIP SAW THE CODE WHERE THEY SAID IT WAS P0600 FOR OIL PRESSURE CONTROL CIRCUIT STUCK. I WAS ABLE TO TEST DRIVE WITH THE TECH WHO ATTACHED HIS LAPTOP TO THE SENSOR, AND SHOW HIM THE "STALL/SURGE". HE COULD SEE AND FEEL THE "STALL/SURGE" AS IT WAS HAPPENING BUT THE LAPTOP DID NOT REGISTER ANY ISSUES. THE TECH TESTED AND DIAGNOSED THE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH WAS FAULTY. THE TECH REPLACED THE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH, BUT HE SAID HE COULD NOT DUPLICATE IT ON HIS OWN. THEY CHANGED THE OIL FOR ME WHILE IT WAS IN FOR SERVICE. AGAIN ON 6-10-15 AT 12,443 MILES WHEN I WAS ACCELERATING INTO TRAFFIC WHEN THE CAR "STALLED/SURGED" AND I WAS ALMOST HIT FROM BEHIND. AS SOON AS IT HAPPENED, I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY WERE UNABLE TO LOOK AT IT FOR A FEW DAYS BECAUSE THEY WERE SO BUSY. 9-26-15. IT HAPPENED AGAIN, AT 17,000 MILES. IT STALLED/SURGED, IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN WHEN I AM MERGING ONTO A FREEWAY AND I AM THE MOST VULNERABLE. I FEAR FOR MY SAFETY, I DO NOT TRUST THIS VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP HAS HAD IT SINCE THEN, THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT REPLACING THE ENGINE.

THE TRANSMISSION IS NOT SHIFTING PROPERLY; WHEN IT IS COLD, THE ENGINE WILL REV-UP BETWEEN SHIFTS, AND IT HAS SEVERE DOWNSHIFTS. WHEN THE TEMPERATURE,(AMBIENT AND VEHICLE), IS NORMAL THE UP-SHIFT PROBLEM GOES AWAY BUT THE DOWNSHIFTING PROBLEM STILL REMAINS,(AT TIMES)! I HAVE TAKEN IT BACK FOR REPAIRS 3 TIMES ,(FOR THIS PROBLEM), AND NOTHING HAS HELPED. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, CALLED THE DEALER AND HE SAID BRING IT IN AND WE DID. THEY RAN ALL KINDS OF TEST ON THE ENGINE AND THEY DETERMINED THAT THE CAM SHAFT WAS BAD. THE DEALER WAS IN CONTACT WITH CHRYSLER HEADQUARTERS ,THERE DECISION WAS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE ENGINE. *TR
