I BOUGHT MY CHEVY TAHOE IN 2012.WHEN I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE,THIS VEHICLE HAD 20 INCH TIRES THAT CAME WITH IT.BECAUSE OF THE LARGER,LOW PROFILE TIRES,THIS HAS CAUSED A BUMPY RIDE AND HAS CAUSED MANY REPAIRS TO THE FRONT END SUSPENSION.I HAVE CHANGED THE BALL JOINTS A FEW TIMES,WHEEL HUBS,FRONT SHOCKS,STEERING COLUMN UJOINT,AND CONSTANTLY GETTING FRONT END ALIGNMENTS.WHEN I GO OVER BUMPS,MY TRUCK SHIFTS TO EITHER LEFT OR RIGHT.I DECIDED IN 2020 TO CHANGED MY TIRES TO A DIFFERENT MAKE AND MODEL THINKING THIS WOULD CORRECT PROBLEM.IT DIDNT CORRECT PROBLEM.I HAVE SPENT ALOT OF MONEY FOR NOTHING
IT STARTED WITH SOME LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD THEN THE BRAKES SMOKING. WHEN DRIVING IT THE BRAKES SEEMS UNSAFE TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC SAID IT'S THE STEERING ANGLE SENSOR . THEY CALLED SEVERAL PLACESES INCLUDED THE DEALERSHIP AND GM DOES NOT MAKE THAT PART ANYMORE FOR THE YEAR AND MODEL. SAID IT COULD BE ORDERED ONLINE THEY TRIED IT BUT IT'S NOT THE SAME PART NEEDED. THE MECHANIC SAID IT'S NOT RECOMMENDED TO DRIVE THAT'S IT'S VERY UNSAFE TO DO SO.WE HAVE DECIDED TO PARK IT AND NOT USE IT FOR SAFETY ISSUES. *LN
2008 TAHOE 2MODE HYBIRD 6.0L TRIM: HY2 WITH ELECTRICAL POWER ASSISTED STEERING FREEWAY OFF RAMP 45-50MPH A/C WAS ON AT THE TIME MEDIUM SETTING RADIO WAS ON AT THE TIME ENGINE RUNNING ISSUE. HAD A MOMENTARY LOSS OF POWER STEERING IN "EMERGENCY " MANEUVER... NOT ONLY DID THE SUV KEEP GOING STRAIGHT THE WHEEL LOCKED UP(LIKE IF IT WAS OFF AND WOULD NOT MOVE AT ALL) EVERYTHING WAS FINE AFTER THAT MOMENTARY LOSS OF EPAS WAS ABLE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP WITHOUT ACCIDENT... I HAD A GOOD FOLLOWING DISTANCE FROM THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME AND THEY MOVED OUT OF THE WAY (FAST)SO DID I. (LOOK LIKE THEY WERE MOVING OUT OF THE WAY OF A OBJECT IN THE ROAD) ANYWAYS NO OBJECT IN THE ROAD.. I DID NOTICE THERE WAS A RECALLED ISSUED FOR THE 2015+ MODEL ELECTRICAL POWER ASSISTED STEERING BUT NOT FOR THE 2008-2013 2MODE HYBRIDS THAT ARE EQUIPPED WITH ELECTRICAL POWER ASSISTED STEERING EXAMPLE: 2MODE HYBIRD CHEVY TAHOE 2008-13 GMC YUKON 2008-13 CADILLAC ESCALADE 2009-13 GMC SERRIA 2009-13 CHEVY SILVERADO 2009-13
VEHICLE SHUTS OFF RANDOMLY FROM STOP TO AUTO START TRANSITION FEATURE. MODULES HAS BEEN UPDATED TO LATEST VERSION. PROBLEM STILL ACCUMULATING HYBRID BATTERIES SOC 60% BATTERY TEMPERATURE INLET 81F OUTLET 107F 340VOLT TOTAL CHARGE IN THE EVENT OF PROBLEM ACCURED. AUX TRANS PUMP AND MODULE REPLACED NEW. HYBRID BATTERY COOLING FAN REPLACED NEW. PROBLEM STILL EXIST DEALER CANNOT FIND THE PROBLEM OR THEY DONT WANT TO DEAL. IN THE EVEN OF SHUT OFF I LOOSE BRAKE POWER AND STEERING POWER WHICH I CAN NOT STOP OR STEER THE VEHICLE TO PULL OVER THIS RESULTS IN SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE.
I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 60 MILES PER HOUR, AND THE STEERING PUT VERY HARD, SO I CAN'T GO FOR NOTHING ON LEFT OR RIGHT SO I WAS VERY LITTLE TO HAVE CRASHED
SUDDEN FAILURE OF ELECTRIC POWER STEERING MOTOR. NO WARNING, NO ALARMS, WHILE DRIVING. LUCKILY HAPPENED AT SLOW SPEED AND NO ACCIDENT OCCURRED....BUT COULD HAVE. POST INCIDENT I COULD NOT FIND A RECALL NOTICE OR TSB FOR MY VEHICLE, YET OTHER GM VEHICLES WITH ELECTRIC POWER STEERING HAVE NOTICES. THE TAHOE HYBRID SHOULD HAVE ONE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET TAHOE HYBRID. WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE AT 10 MPH, THE POWER STEERING FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V719000 (STEERING). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 122,000.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, ANY SLIGHT TURN OF THE WHEEL STAYS IN RATHER THAN TRACKING BACK TO CENTER. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS IS NORMAL FOR THE ELECTRIC ASSISTED POWER STEERING, HOWEVER I HAVE NOT NOTICED IT IN OTHER ELECTRIC VEHICLES. IT PRESENTS A SERIOUS HAZARD AS MOST IF NOT ALL DRIVERS ARE ACCUSTOMED TO A STEERING WHEEL WHICH TRACKS BACK TO CENTER WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL IS "BUMPED" SLIGHTLY OR WHEN MAKING A FULL TURN AS IN INTERSECTION TURNS. THE WHEEL IN A 90 DEGREE TURN WILL BEGIN TO TRACK BACK TO CENTER BUT STOPS SHORT OF IT. A POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE ADJUSTMENT WAS DONE BY THE DEALER BUT IT STILL DOES NOT TRACK BACK TO CENTER. YOU MUST MANUALLY TURN THE WHEEL TO GET IT TO STRAIGHTEN OUT. *TR
