The oil keeps disappearing in the car I fill it with 7 Quartz of oil and two months or less it’s all gone I heard there was a issue with this before but no recall my engine almost blew two weeks after a oil change I thought that’s wrong I have oil so I had it reset then three months later my engine was ticking so I took it in and there was no oil they put 7 more quartz of oil and no again it’s all gone I had more put back in and I think this should be a recall I called the dealer and they said they won’t do anything unless I pay for it to be fixed but it’s been a known issue for years and they don’t do nothing about it I am a young person that doesn’t have $3,000 to pay to fix this issue I believe Chevy should.

OUR 2007 CHEVY TAHOE HAD BEEN DRIVEN FOR ABOUT AN HOUR AND THEN PARKED FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO HOURS. UPON STARTING THE TAHOE WITH COLD ENGINE AND PULLING AWAY FROM THE CURB THERE WAS AN IMMEDIATE SMELL OF SOMETHING TOXIC COMING FROM THE AIR VENTS FOLLOWED BY BLACK SMOKE FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AND TURNED OFF AND LESS THAN A MINUTE LATER THERE WERE FLAMES EMANATING FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND WITHIN A COUPLE OF MINUTES THE HOOD WAS BLOWN OPEN AND THE ENTIRE FRONT OF THE CAR WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES.

I PURCHASED MY 2007 TAHOE TO BE THE LAST CAR I WOULD NEED TO BUY AS I AM NEAR RETIREMENT. I AM VERY WORRIED NOW THAT IT WILL NEED SOME MAJOR REPAIRS TO CORRECT THE OIL CONSUMPTION. CHEVROLET SHOULD COVER THESE REPAIRS AS IT IS OBVIOUS THERE IS A DESIGN PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE AND THOUSANDS OF USERS HAVE THIS PROBLEM. FOR THE ENORMOUS COST OF THE VEHICLE I EXPECTED BETTER. I SHOULD HAVE KEPT MY OLD 1998 TAHOE. IT PROBABLY WOULD STILL BE RUNNING AND WOULDNT NEED OIL BETWEEN OIL CHANGES.

A POP WAS HEARD UNDER THE ENGINE AREA AND IMMEDIATELY AFTER THAT THE CAR BEGAN TO IDLE VERY ROUGH. IT WOULD NOT RUN PROPERLY AND HAD TO PULL OFF THE STREET INTO A GAS STATION. INSIDE THE CAR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE STABILITRAK SERVICE SOON LIGHT WERE ON. AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES WE TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THEN ON AGAIN, WE DECIDED TO MOVE AGAIN AND THE IDLING WAS WORSE. THE STABILITRAK AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WERE FLASHING ON AND OFF. WE BEGAN TO MOVE BUT THE CAR WAS IDLING VERY BAD AND SHIFTING VERY HARD AFTER A FEW FEET OF MOVEMENT. WE DROVE THE CAR TO THE NEAREST FIRESTONE DEALER TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. FIRESTONE CALLED TO NOTIFY US THAT THE CYLINDER #1 WAS EITHER STUCK/FROZE AND THAT WE WOULD NEED TO OPEN THE CYLINDERCOVER TO SEE EXACTLY WHAT WAS WRONG. THE NEXT DAY FIRESTONE NOTIFIED US THAT THE CYLINDER ROD WAS BROKEN AND THAT WE NEEDED TO DO A CYLINDER REPLACEMENT ON THE CAR. THE CAR ONLY HAD 88K MILES AND WE ARE THE ORIGINAL OWNERS, THIS IS TOO EARLY TO HAVE THESE PROBLEMS ON A CAR WITH LESS THAN 100K MILES. I FOUND SOME ARTICLES ON-LINE WHERE THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH GM AND THAT THE 20007-08, 5.3L V8 ENGINES, THE FIRST WITH THE FLEX FUEL SYSTEM, ARE STARTING TO FAIL AT THE 80K PLUS MILES RANGE. WE HAVE HAD OUR SERVICE PERFORMED AT OUR LOCAL CHEVY DEALER AND THE CAR HAS BEEN MAINTAINED WELL. IT IS AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR THAT SHOULD NOT BE REQUIRED ON A CAR WITH LOW MILES AND GOOD MAINTENANCE RECORDS. FIRESTONE HAS FIXED THE CAR FOR $2,600.00 DOLLARS, AND CAR RENTAL FEES. THIS ENGINE FAILURE IS A DEFECT AND A SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW AND WE AS CONSUMERS SHOULD NOT HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIS EXPENSIVE REPAIR WITHOUT ANY HELP FROM GM IF THEY ARE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE NOT FILED A FORMAL RECALL ON THIS MODEL YEAR ENGINE. THIS COULD BE A DANGEROUS CONDITION IF YOUR DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE CAR LOOSES THE ENGINE PERFORMANCE AT HIGH SPEEDS. *TR

THE OIL LEVEL LOW LIGHT CAME ON IN THE CAR. I TOOK THE CAR TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC. HE ALSO HAS A 2007 TAHOE. HE TOLD ME TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE LOCAL CHEVY DEALER. HE HAS SEEN THIS MANY TIMES IN THE 2007 TAHOE, APPARENTLY THEY BURN OIL AND IT IS DUE TO A DEFECTIVE DESIGN OF THE PISTON AND PISTON RING. THE DEALER PAID FOR HIS TAHOE TO BE FIXED. I WAS TOLD THAT GM NOW USES A MINIMUM PARTICIPATION FINANCIAL CALCULATOR AND GM WOULD ONLY PAY FOR 45% OF THE COST TO REPAIR, LEAVING ME WITH A $1,705.10 REPAIR BILL. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE REPAIR COST DOWN TO $850. HOWEVER, THIS CAR IS DEFECTIVE. I HAVE NOT EVEN FINISHED PAYING FOR THE CAR AND THE DEALER IS TELLING ME I NEED A NEW ENGINE DUE TO A DESIGN FLAW. I THINK GM NEEDS TO DO THE RIGHT THING HERE AND REPAIR THEIR FLAWED 2007 TAHOES. GM CLEARLY KNOWS OF THE FLAW AS THEY REDESIGNED THE 2008 PISTON AND PISTON RING. *TR

THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT REPLACING THE PISTON RINGS WOULD NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE AND THAT THE ENGINE WOULD REQUIRE REPLACEMENT. THE DEALER STATED THEY WOULD NOT REBUILD THE ENGINE EVEN THOUGH JUST REPLACING THE RINGS WILL NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS CONSUMING EXCESSIVE OIL FOR A PERIOD OF THREE YEARS. THE VEHICLE WAS SCHEDULED FOR REPAIRS. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 80,000.

I HAVE AN 07 TAHOE AND HAVE READ FROM OTHER PEOPLE THAT THIS IS HAPPENING TO ALOT OF OTHERS AS WELL. I HAD MY TRUCK INSPECTED AT THE CHEVY DEALER IN LAKE ELSINORE. THEY SAID IT COULD BE A NUMBER OF THINGS AND THOUGHT THAT CLEANING MY INTAKE SYSTEM WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. IT WAS FINE FOR ONE DAY THEN OUT OF NOWHERE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY MY STABILITY TRAC LIGHT COMES ON AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND SAYS REDUCED ENGINE POWER . I HAD MY WIFE AND KIDS IN THE TRUCK AND FIND IT FUNNY THAT I GUESS THIS HAS HAPPENED TO OTHERS WITH DIFFERENT VEHICLES BUT THE SAME YEAR GMC YUKONS. I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AS ONE AND THEY WERE NEAR SEMI TRUCKS. THIS IS NOT GOOD EVEN WORSE WHEN YOU ARE NO LONGER UNDER THE WARRANTY AND THE DEALER CAN'T TELL YOU EXACTLY WHAT IT IS BUT WANTS TO TRY EVERYTHING. THAT IS WRONG. I BOUGHT A 2007 TAHOE WITH A MILEAGE OF JUST OVER 77K, THE LOW OIL LIGHT CAME ON JUST AS THE FIRST OIL CHANGE WAS DUE(3K MILES). IT WAS APPROXIMATELY A QUART LOW. THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT IT IT HAD JUST CHANGED THE OIL SO I THOUGHT, "MAYBE THEY JUST DIDNT PUT ENOUGH IN." TOOK IT TO LOCAL STATION THAT I GET ALL MY WORK DONE AT TO GET AN OIL CHANGE. LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN BEFORE THE NEXT OIL CHANGE WAS DUE AGAIN ALMOST A QUART LOW. I PUT MORE OIL IN AND CHANGED AGAIN AT 83086. AT 86147 LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND WAS 1 1/4 QTS LOW, SO I ADDED MORE OIL. THEN AT 87098 WE WERE LEAVING TO GO ON A ROAD TRIP SO I CHECKED OIL AND IT WAS 1/4 QT LOW. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS YEAR VEHICLE ACCORDING TO ONLINE REPORTS. I SHOULDN'T BE HAVING TO ADD THIS MUCH OIL TO THE VEHICLE IN SUCH A SHORT AMOUNT OF MILEAGE. *TT

AFTER HEARING THE EXPLOSION, THE CONTACTS HUSBAND USED A GARDEN HOSE TO KEEP THE FLAMES AWAY FROM THE HOUSE. AN ADDITIONAL VEHICLE THAT BELONGS TO THE CONTACT WAS DAMAGED BY THE FIRE. THERE WAS ALSO PROPERTY DAMAGE TO THE SIDING AND BRICKS ON THE HOUSE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE, FILED A REPORT, AND STATED THAT THE CAUSE WAS AN ELECTRICAL SHORT. THE INSURANCE COMPANY TOWED THE VEHICLE TO GENERAL MOTORS TO CONDUCT AN INVESTIGATION. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 9000.UPDATE 09/10/08 *CW UPDATED 09/17/08. *JB

OUR 2007 CHEVROLET TAHOE WILL NOT START. THERE HAVE BEEN FOUR OCCASIONS WHERE MY FAMILY AND I WERE GETTING READY TO TAKE A TRIP AND WHEN MY HUSBAND WENT TO TURN THE CAR ON IT WOULD NOT START. WE HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE JUMP STARTED TWICE AND HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO ANTWERPEN CHEVROLET TWICE AND EACH TIME WE WERE TOLD THAT THERE WAS NO REAL PROBLEM. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET TAHOE. ON JANUARY 12, 2007, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY REINSTALLED THE CAM SHAFT CLIP INTO THE HARNESS, AND REPLACED THE CAM SHAFT POSITION SENSOR. ON NOVEMBER 21, 2007, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER BECAUSE THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN. THE CAM SHAFT SENSOR WAS REPLACED AGAIN. ON JANUARY 29, 2008, THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN AND THE VEHICLE WAS DIFFICULT TO START. IN ADDITION, THE AUTO START REMOTE WOULD NOT WORK. THE DEALER REPLACED THE CAM SENSOR AGAIN. SINCE THE LAST REPLACEMENT, THE ENGINE LIGHT HAS NOT ILLUMINATED AGAIN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 16,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,948.

I OWN A NEW 2007 CHEVY TAHOE THAT I PURCHASED ON 2/22/07 FOR $49K. ON DEC 31ST, 2007 I CAME HOME FROM WORK AT 3PM AND PARKED MY CAR IN OUR ATTACHED GARAGE (CAR OBVIOUSLY TURNED OFF). AT 3:45PM MY WIFE STARTED TO SMELL SMOKE -- UPON ENTERING THE GARAGE I NOTICED THAT THE CAR WAS SMOKING (FIRE DEPT THINKS ITS ELECTRICAL IN NATURE - DEFINITELY SMELLED LIKE IT WAS). I HAVE NOT HAD A PROBLEM AT ALL WITH THIS CAR AND KEPT UP WITH ALL MAINTENANCE ONLY USING THE GM DEALERSHIP FOR WORK. WE IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE FIRE DEPT -- WHEN THE POLICE AND FIRE MADE IT TO THE SCENE THE ENGINE BURST INTO FLAMES. MY ONE YEAR OLD SON WAS SLEEPING IN HIS ROOM RIGHT ABOVE THE GARAGE. THERE ARE A LOT OF "WHAT IFS" THAT GO THROUGH YOUR HEAD IF WE HAD NOT SMELLED THE SMOKE AND THE CAR BLEW UP. NOT EVEN TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THAT THERE WAS ANOTHER CAR RIGHT NEXT TO THE TAHOE WHICH WAS FULL OF GAS. GM HAS GIVEN ME THE RUN AROUND AND DOES NOT FEEL THAT MY CAR DESERVES TO BE REPLACED. THEY ARE VERY HAPPY LETTING MY INSURANCE PAY FOR THE DAMAGE TO MY HOUSE AND LETTING ME SUFFER A $16K LOSS OUT OF POCKET FOR THIS INCIDENT. I AM CURRENTLY PURSUING LEGAL AVENUES AND AM IN THE PROCESS OF LOOKING AT THE LEMON LAW THAT MASSACHUSETTS HAS ON THE BOOKS. *TR

I WILL EXPLAIN THE DANGEROUS EXPERIENCES WE WERE SUBJECTED TO IN CHEVROLET TAHOE. THE CHEVROLET TAHOE I JUST PURCHASED 2 WEEKS AGO HAS STALLED ON THREE OCCASIONS, WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT 65-70 MPH, ON A BUSY INTERSTATE. WHEN THE INCIDENTS OCCURRED THERE WERE MANY MOTORIST ON THE INTERSTATE (AT NIGHT AND DURING THE DAY) WE WENT TO TWO DEALERS AND SPOKE WITH ON STAR FOUR TIMES. THE REPAIRS WERE SUPPOSED TO BE COMPLETED BUT EACH TIME THE SUV STALLED ON THE INTERSTATE CAUSING A POSSIBLY FATAL INCIDENT FOR MY FAMILY AND OTHER MOTORIST. THE 2007 TAHOE THAT I HAVE BEEN SOLD IS CLEARLY DANGEROUS AND DEFECTIVE. NOW IT'S FRIDAY, JUNE 9, 2006, AND I HAVE A BRAND NEW 2007 TAHOE THAT IS TRULY MALFUNCTIONING; MY FAMILY NEEDS SAFE AND RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION. *JB *NM
