Your engine light comes on with a P0300 misfire code due to a defective lifter spring that keeps the valve lifter stuck in the down position. As the camshaft rotates, this causes the lifter and camshaft to break, which can lead to complete engine failure. Many owners report hearing a pinging noise around 50,000 miles and needing to replace the valve lifters and camshaft to fix the problem.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE RIM WAS CAUSING THE TIRES TO DEFLATE DUE TO CORROSION. THE WHEELS WERE REPLACED. THE WHEELS WERE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.

THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC THAT THE SPARE TIRE CABLE WAS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO CUT ONCE THE TIRE WAS ATTACHED AND THE CABLE WAS RETRACTED. THE TIRE WAS NOT REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN, BUT THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 14,115.
