2018 Chevrolet Malibu Engine Problems

Vehicle suddenly went into reduced engine power mode and nearly caused a crash. We pulled off to the side of the highway. Turned the car off and waited for about 5 minutes with our small children in the back seat.

For over two years now I have been getting a reduced engine power when I drive. The car becomes slow and it is very dangerous especially on the highway. I have almost crashed a couple of times due to this issue.

The check engine light came on and after getting it diagnose I recieved a P1101 code indicating air mass flow problem. After replacing the sensor I later received an engine power reduce on the dashboard. I received that warning while driving on the interstate and my vehicle started reducing speed possibly causing an accident.

While driving on the highway my car decelerated from 60 MPH to 25 MPH in an instant. This almost caused a major fatal crash. My check engine light is on saying engine power reduced.

Several times I have had the engine light come on and a warning of Engine Power Reduced. I have had it checked several times and some it was not able to be diagnosed but others the various modules were replaced - but the issue is not fixed. What is it going to take to have this brought to NHTSA attention as well as GM to get this corrected on a recall?

I was driving on a busy highway doing 70mph and a warning popped up on the dash and said engine power reduced and the car slowed down to 20mph. I almost got rear ended and had to pull over to the side of the road. This has also happened on a regular city street while going 40mph.

My wife purchased a new 2018 chevy malibu on july 3, 2018. In october 2019, we received a safety recall notice (n192221960) informing my wife the malibu had a safety issue. I was driving on the highway and suddenly I began to loose speed and my engine check light turned on and my car said engine power reduced. I almost got into an accident because of this.

I was only doing 30 and there was no traffic but the engine bogging down while going up hill could have caused an accident dear [xxx], an issue with the engine and transmission system in your 2018 chevrolet malibu has been detected. I just went and picked up my car after having the recall cone.. VIN#[XXX].The car stalled on me when trying to trying to accelerate I almost got hit because of this...This has happen way to many times. This repair was supposedly done on 07/07/2021.

I was driving app. 41 miles per hour in heavy Friday traffic on 10/7/2022 and the check engine light lit up and the car dropped to about 20 miles per hour and would not pick up speed. The RPM was staying on about 3000.

The second morning in a row my 2018 Chevy Malibu overheated. Early in the morning, the temperature out was about 45-50 degrees, I was driving on the highway about 65-70 MPH, I turned on the heater and my cars temperature gage immediately shoots up and the "overheating engine" warning lights start flashing.

When driving the car it will lose propulsion and power. At one point it almost shut off while driving on the highway. I took the car for inspection to chevrolet dealer but I was told they will take weeks to find the exact issue.

I have had my malibu about 4 months now, I purchased it with 500 miles on it. I started having problems with accelerating shortly after the purchase. I was merging on to the interstate and trying to speed up to the speed of traffic.

Certain @018 Chevy malibu models has a recall for asoftware problem could disable the fuel injectors And im currently having this issue where my vehicle will not start all of the time and is misfiring.

While driving o Leo noticed temp gauge going up. Pulled into a parking area. All my antifreeze had drained through a hole in the lower radiator hose.

Car suddenly stops and takes several minutes to turn back on. During the time the car is off there is no electrical power. After a few minutes (5-10) electrical power returns and car is able to be started.

Engine goes into power reduced mode regularly and prevents me from driving. It typically happens on the interstate, but has happened on city streets as well. Once I restart the car, I am able to drive again, but it is happens more and more often.

My car shuts off while I am driving (at a stop or idling) stationary

While in the middle of driving the car will say "reduced engine power" and will not let me accelerate. This is highly dangerous especially on the highway or middle of the street. It has done this once before at a stoplight where the engine totally shut off.

The excellarator sensor is bad and keeps powering down engine even on the freeway

While driving, the message 'engine power is reduced' appeared. My car slowed down and I had to press really hard on the gas pedal to get back up to the speed I was at. It is said to be a defective electronic throttle control and accelerator pedal position sensor.

Taking off from a stop sign trying to accelerate into traffic at which point the car shifted through a couple of years with no acceleration or power behind it I was maybe going 12mph as it shifted through to 3rd gear about a 8-10 second delay. I had plenty of time to make it if I would've been in any other vehicle. I was almost t-boned.

Takata recall - when I put in park and turn off engine, it is still running. I have to jiggle the park several times until it goes off. This is reoccurring more and more.
