ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 Buick Verano and 2016 Chevrolet Malibu as the electronic park lock lever may allow the ignition key to be removed without the transmission being in PARK. Also, certain 2013 Buick Encore, 2011 Buick Regal, 2013-2014 Buick Verano, 2011-2016 Chevrolet Cruze, 2010-2013 Chevrolet Equinox 2013-2015 Chevrolet Malibu, and 2011-2013 GMC Terrain vehicles may have been serviced with similar defective replacement electronic park lock levers. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 114, "Theft Protection and Rollaway Prevention."
Fix: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and if necessary replace the key cylinder lock housing, free of charge. The recall began on October 14, 2016. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, Buick 1-800-521-7300, and GMC 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 50490 and 50491.

Auto start stop malfunctioning, my safety as well as my children have been in the car when the car has stopped while in the middle of driving. It has stopped in the middle of the road and on the freeway in moving traffic and for 1-3 minutes the car won’t start back up leaving me and my family stranded in the middle of the road where anyone can and have almost hit us. When I’ve sent the car to my dealer mechanic he told me the car cuts off like that because it runs hot when that is not the reason after he told me that he fixed I drove off and it stopped on me as the light was turning green for traffic to go. The car had the issue about 3 days after i purchased it I’ve which was last year 2024 in June and as of now the issue still hasn’t been fixed by the dealer
Hello. I have a 2014 Malibu. Recently it has been stalling when coming to a stop and yet there are no engine/warning lights on. Took it to numerous mechanics, spoke with people at the dealership service area and yet nothing! Nobody can figure it out at all. I’ve had the throttle body replaced, module piece, and a few other parts by someone who previously worked at the Chevrolet dealership and even they can’t figure it out. This is not only a safety hazard but a very uncomfortable feeling riding a car and having to put it into Neutral when approaching a light or stop sign ! My car will tell me if my turn signal is on for longer than 2-3 minutes so I’m not understanding why it won’t tell me why my car is shutting off. I’m frustrated because I’m paying different mechanics to figure it out and it’s still an unsolved problem! It would be nice if Chevrolet can look at everyone’s vehicle and not charge this time!! I have children so having them ride in a car that stalls is UNACCEPTABLE!
I have an electrical problem with my car. Driver seat is electrical and the seat has been stuck in one position. The siding of the seat where the buttons are broke. The seatbelt gets stuck from the plastic being broken. I’ve had the car for a year and within 3 months of purchase I had to change brakes and it needs brakes again.

When I come to a stop at a red light & the car is idling the car turns off & I have to put the car in park and turn the car on so over again. This happens in busy intersections
I have a 2014 Malibu with 87,450 miles. It has worked perfectly up until 6 months ago. It started stalling in traffic intersections and at stop signs, which is a dangerous safety issue. The Auto Stop would engage and then when I put my foot on the accelerator, it stalled out. I would turn the vehicle off and restart it. I took it to countless mechanics who could not figure out what was causing the problem because the Check Engine light did not come on and no codes were triggered. The problem became worse over time and once the vehicle stalled, it would not immediately restart. I took it to my Chevy Dealer and they were baffled as well. They uploaded new software which included the Auto Stop feature, but it continued to stall. They replaced the front battery and checked the one in the trunk. It still stalled. The Dealer said that since the Check Engine light did not come on, they were shooting in the dark. I asked them to disconnect the Auto Stop function, but they said that they couldn't. Unlike other models, there was no disconnection method. I have looked at many on-line chats on the 2014 Chevy Malibu and this defect in the Auto Stop function seems pretty prevalent. No one has come up with a workable solution. I filed a Notice of Claim with Chevrolet corporate and asked them to provide a fix. Does anyone have any ideas of either how to fix the Auto Stop or to disable it? Right now I am shifting into neutral at all traffic signals and stop signs, so that the Auto Stop function does not engage, but that seems like a poor fix to the problem.
6 months ago our car’s auto stop/start feature started to malfunction. The car will stall and sputter on the start after coming to a stop. This is very dangerous! On multiple occasions, the car would not accelerate through a turn on a light stalling out in the intersection. we have also been nearly rear-ended at red lights because the vehicle will not accelerate on a green light. This issue is well discussed on the Internet with many owners reporting the same issue. Chevrolet should be held accountable for this repair. This is not an isolated event with my vehicle.
No incident has occurred, thankfully. Car was purchased used in January 2018. It is now approximately about 9 years old. This issue happens intermittently but the electrical systems seem to be misfiring. Basically, it gives false negatives/positives. (1) The check engine comes on and off all the time even after servicing the vehicle with the mechanic. (2) The passenger seat has front airbags that get activated when someone sits in the seat. Lately, the seatbelt alert goes off while nothing heavy is in the seat. I have to latch the seatbelt to get that alert to stop. (3) The automatic lights that come on when you open the door sometimes don't turn on and the auto lights indicator is on. (4) Lately, when I have turned off the engine and opened the door, the radio won't turn off even after I have removed the keys. Electrical malfunctions could be happening due to the wrong wires being installed or something and may cause the car not to work any longer. I'm not sure but I don't want to encounter issues while I'm driving.

THE AUTO STOP SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONS SHUTS OFF AT RED LIGHTS AND DOES NOT ENGAGE WHEN BRAKE RELEASED AND GAS PEDAL PUSHED. THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF COMPLETELY AND HAS TO BE PUT IN PARK AND RESTARTED IN TRAFFIC WHICH CAN BE DEADLY. THERE'S NO WAY TO DISENGAGE THIS IS NOT A GOOD FEATURE.
The AutoStop/Start feature malfunctioned while at a busy intersection. The AutoStop engaged but failed to start the engine, once pressure was released from the brake pedal. This has been an issue for about a year now. I have replaced both batteries, both VVT sensors, and the oil pressure sensor in the last year, thinking this would solve the issue. This vehicle has not been inspected by a mechanic, just scanned with a handheld scanner at a parts store, every time there is a check engine indicator light on. There are no dash indicators when this malfunctions, I just have to turn the vehicle completely off, or pump the accelerator in order for it to start.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that when they started the vehicle all its lights illuminated however it only turned on the vehicle not start the engine. The contact had the vehicle towed to the dealer who diagnosed that the passenger-side wiring harness needed to be replaced. The contact was unable to specify which wiring harness. The vehicle had not been repaired due to parts any longer being in production. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened a case regarding the matter. The parts no longer being in production were confirmed. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

2014 Malibu will turn to auto stop then off while reversing or getting out of a parking spot in general. Rarely, it will stop in traffic when waiting at a red light, but 99% of the time when coming out of a parking spot. It will also bounce and/or rock when stopped in drive. This has been going on since about January 2022 as far as I realize.
Reduced Engine Power
2014 Malibu lt with the auto stop issues. My auxiliary batter was replaced and everything was good until my engine light came on can’t even remember exactly but the code was for the rocker arm control valve and oil pressure sensor. I replaced vvt solenoid also the intake and exhaust solenoid. Shortly after that, maybe 2 months or so after was when the auto stop started having issues. After the suto stop is engaged and my foot comes off the brake, it fails to restart after two failed attempts. I’ll manually restart it and it might start right away but sometimes wont start until the 2nd or 3rd try
The HVAC system is not functioning. In July of 2021, the air conditioner would not turn off at all. The car cannot be driven at all if it is cold outside and the windows frost over as you cannot turn on the heater to defrost them. Even if they aren't frosted over, it's too cold now to drive with the air conditioner on. There was a recall with other 2014 Chevy Malibu's, but not for my car, but it is the same problem as the other recall. It is available for inspection. I called GM and they were not helpful at all. No warning lamps or messages prior to the problem. Can take to a dealership when the weather is warm enough. Had to disengage the blower motor.

GOV vehicle was traveling north on the Baltimore Washington Parkway near Interstate 695. The steering and brakes failed, and the driver moved the vehicle safely to the shoulder and exited the vehicle. The vehicle began to smoke and caught fire. The Traction control , steering, brake and ABS warning lamps appeared.
Whenever a passenger rides in the front seat all electrical components lose proper function. Heating/air-conditioning does not work, multiple warning sensors go off, radio does not work, gas gauge does not work, speedometer does not work, blinkers do not work.

WHEN START STOP WAS ENGAGED AT LIGHT THE CAR SHUT OFF EVERYTHING ON THE DASH AND RADIO WENT BLANK. IT AUTO STARTED AND AC WAS NO LONGER WORKING. AFTERWARDS I SMELLED A SLIGHT BURNING SCENT (IN LOUISIANA TRAFFIC, I WAS UNSURE IT WAS ME) BUT CAR RAN FINE. WHEN START STOP ENGAGED THERE WAS A LONGER THAN NORMAL PAUSE BEFORE WOULD AUTO START WOULD ENGAGE. IT WOULD INTERMITTENTLY FAIL TO CRANK ON OCCASION FOR A FEW KEY TURNS. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TRUNK WOULD MYSTERIOUSLY POP OPEN. STARTED DISPLAYING TWO KEY FOBS PROGRAMMED, ABS STABLE TRACK, REDUCED ENGINE POWER, LOW BATTERY AND ANOTHER THING I CAN'T REMEMBER AT START UP. I CHANGED THE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR WITH NEW ONES AND THE NEXT DAY THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FLICKERED AS WELL AS HEAD LIGHTS. AND WHEN I WAS TO TAKE IT IN TO DEALERSHIP IT HAD COMPLETE ELECTRICAL FAILURE. THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS THE ENGINE FUSE BLOCK AND REPLACED IT. NOW THE ENGINE LIGHT IS STILL ON AND HAS A PAUSE BEFORE IT START. WILL NOT SEND DIAGNOSTICS TO MY CHEVY APP. REMOTE START IS NOT WORKING WITH ENG LIGHT ON. I TOLD THEM I THOUGHT IS WAS BATTERY CONTROL MODULE BUT HE INSISTED THAT IT WAS JUST THE ENGINE FUSE BLOCK. I CANNOT EXPLAIN THE ANXIETY. AND HAVE TOLD MY FAMILY THAT IF I DIE IN THAT CAR TO SUE GM. THERE SHOULD BE NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS CAR AT 6 YEARS OLD. 53000 MILES AND IS DRIVEN LESS THAN 50 MILES A WEEK.
MY BLOWER STOPPED WORKING. I REPLACED THE BLOWER MOTOR AND RESISTOR AND NOTICED IT HAD ALREADY BEEN REPLACED. I BOUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW, SO I'M GUESSING THEY CAUGHT A RECALL BEFORE THEY SOLD TO ME. AFTER I REPLACED THE BLOWER MOTOR AND RESISTOR, IT WORKED FOR A COUPLE MONTHS, AND THEN STOPPED AGAIN. KEY CONSISTING BECOMES STUCK IN THE IGNITION CYLINDER OF MY 2014 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT TURN OFF DUE TO THE KEY BEING STUCK IN THE IGNITION. THIS PREVENTS THE DOORS FROM BEING LOCKED AND INCREASING THE CHANCE OF THE VEHICLE BEING STOLEN. THERE ARE A MULTITUDE OF VIDEOS FOR THIS ISSUE ONLINE AND ALL ARE ASSOCIATED WITH CHEVROLET VEHICLES. THEY REPLACED THE SAME PART I HAD ALREADY REPLACED, AND STILL THE ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED. THEY WERE ALSO UNABLE TO LOCATE THE REFERENCED PART ONLINE OR THROUGH A DEALERSHIP (MANGINO CHEVROLET). I CONTACTED SEVERAL DEALERSHIPS AND GM, THE PARTY IS DISCONTINUED AND BACK ORDERED AT PARTS STORES AND DEALERSHIPS. WITHOUT THIS PART, THE CAR CAN NOT BE INSPECTED AND BECOMES A SAFETY ISSUE, AND S LEGAL ISSUE OF CONTINUED TO OPERATE ON THE ROAD (IN NY AND ELSEWHERE I IMAGINE). THE PART IS FAULTY ON MANY CARS IF THE BACK ORDER IS AN ACCURATE INDICATION. ALTHOUGH IT DOES NOT PREVENT SAFE OPERATION OF THE CAR, THE CAR CAN NOT BE INSPECTED OVERALL FOR SAFETY UNTIL THE ENGINE LIGHT IS FIXED.

THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED AND EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. A FIRE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE WAS NOT DETERMINED. CANNON MOTORS (69900 HIGHWAY 82 WEST, GREENWOOD, MS) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000.
BOUGHT CAR BRAND NEW FROM THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP IN 2015. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON WITHIN A YEAR. CODE 305F. REPLACED AUX BATTERY. 1 YEAR LATER, CODE 305F, AGAIN. REPLACED AUX BATTERY UNDER WARRANTY. ANOTHER CODE POPPED UP..THIS WAS A SENSOR; REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. NOV 2018, AGAIN, CODE 305F. ANOTHER AUX BATTERY REPLACED. HERE WE ARE, DEC 2019, CODE 305F. DEALERSHIP STATES SINCE WE'VE REPLACED WITH A GEL BATTERY AND BOTH BATTERIES ARE READING GOOD BUT RECHARGE, THAT IT IS THE COMPUTER MODULE ON TOP OF THE BATTERY WHICH CONTROLS THE AUTO STOP/START AND THE REMOTE START. IN THE ALMOST 5 YEARS I HAVE HAD MY CAR, IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR THIS PROBLEM MORE THAN 3 TIMES NOW AND 2 TIMES FOR HUB ASSEMBLY THAT SHOULD NOT HAVE GONE OUT AT THE LOW MILEAGE OF 42K. THERE IS A CLEAR PROBLEM WITH THIS 305F AND THE HUB ASSEMBLY AS CHEVY HAS A SERVICE BULLETIN ON THE 305F AND MANY CHEVY MALIBU OWNERS HAVE MADE SEVERAL HUNDRED COMPLAINTS ACCORDING TO ONLINE SOURCES. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE CAR WILL "DIE"(SHUT OFF COMPLETELY) WHILE AT A STOP SIGN OR LIGHT WHICH COULD RESULT IN A REAR END.THIS CAR, ALONG WITH THE OTHER 2014-2015 ARE BEING TREATED AS THOUGH THERE IS NO PROBLEM. I'M SICK OF SPENDING $140.00 ON AN AUX BATTERY AND WASTING TIME FOR SOMETHING THAT THEY KNOW IS WORTHY OF A RECALL BUT ARE TO CHEAP OR JUST DON'T CARE ABOUT THE BUYER. AS I WRITE THIS, I AM SITTING AT STERLING MCCALL CHEVROLET IN HOUSTON FOR THE WONDERFUL 305F CODE. DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! I DRIVE MY CAR BECAUSE I HAVE TO AND STILL PAYING IT OFF, BUT I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE IN IT AND IT PUTS ME AND MY FAMILY ALONG WITH OTHER DRIVERS AT RISK. I HAVE ABOUT 2 YEARS LEFT ON MY PAYMENTS.

I WAS TOLD THAT THE AUXILIARY BATTERY WAS BAD, AND HAD IT REPLACED. THE CAR IT WORKED WELL. IN AUGUST OF THIS YEAR THE CAR ENGINE BEGAN SHUTTING OFF, WHILE I WAS DRIVING, AND SOMETIMES AFTER IT WAS PARKED OVERNIGHT. I HAD THE BATTERIES CHECKED, AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY WERE BAD. I LIVE IN AZ, AND THE WEATHER HERE IS VERY HOT, BOTH WERE REPLACED ON AUGUST 27TH AND 28TH, LESS THAN 2 MONTHS AGO, WITH TWO NEW BATTERIES. THE CAR WORKED WELL UP UNTIL THIS EVENING, WHEN IT SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY AS I WAS DRIVING INTO MY YARD. ALL THE LIGHTS CAME OFF, AND I CANNOT GET THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION. I AM GLAD THAT IT HAPPENED WHEN I ENTERED MY YARD AND NOT WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. WILL TOW IT TO THE SHOP IN THE MORNING TO FIND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS NOW.

MY WINDSHIELD AND BACK WINDOW WAS FOGGING ON THE INSIDE DURING THE FALL AND FROSTING ON THE INSIDE DURING THE WINTER. MY CARPETS FELT LIKE A SPONGE. IT TURNED OUT THERE WERE 6" OF STANDING WATER UNDER MY FLOORBOARDS ON THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE CAR (FRONT AND BACK). THE MECHANIC TRACED THIS BACK TO AN OPENING BETWEEN TWO PANELS, JUST BELOW THE WINDSHIELD, THAT WERE NEVER SEALED. HE SAID I WAS LUCKY. IF THE WATER GOT ANY HIGHER, IT COULD HAVE INTERFERED WITH THE ELECTRICAL AND AIRBAG SYSTEM. I ALSO LUCKED OUT IN THAT THERE WAS NO MOLD GROWTH. MY CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW ONLY FIVE YEARS PRIOR AND HAD NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. REPAIR REQUIRED THE REMOVAL OF MY WINDSHIELD, A SIDE PANEL ON THE CAR, MY DRIVER SEAT, AND THE TEARING UP OF MY CARPETS.

GM REPORTEDLY INVESTIGATED THE CHARRED REMAINS WEEKS AFTER THE FIRE AND DECLINED TO PROVIDE ANY INFORMATION ON THE INVESTIGATION OR COMPENSATION FOR THE VEHICLE.
THE VEHICLE HAS AN AUTO STOP/START FEATURE THAT ENGAGES WHEN AT REDLIGHT. THE FUNCTION HAS STOPPED WORKING. PAID TO HAVE EXPENSIVE AUXILLARY BATTERY REPLACED AND SYSTEM CHECKED. HOWEVER SYSTEM IS STILL INOPERATIONAL AND THE DEALERSHIP HAS TOLD ME THERE IS NO FIX.

I BELIEVE MY 2014 CHEVROLET MALIBU IS EXPERIENCING A MANUFACTURING RECALL INVOLVING DRIVING VISIBILITY ISSUES WITH THE DEFROST/DEFOGGER SYSTEM THAT WAS RECALLED ON ALL 2014 CHEVROLET MALIBU'S MADE BETWEEN 06-2013 AND 11-2013. THE RECALL NUMBER I FOUND FOR THAT WAS #13V567000 AND THE RECALL CAME OUT ON 11-13-2013. THE EXACT DESCRIPTION FOR THIS RECALL STATES, ''THE HEATING, VENTILATION, AND AIR CONDITIONING (HVAC) CONTROL IN THESE VEHICLES MAY INTERMITTENTLY BECOME INOPERABLE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STARTED, PREVENTING THE WINDSHIELD DEFROSTER FROM WORKING. THUS, THESE VEHICLES FAIL TO CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD (FMVSS) NO. 103, "WINDSHIELD DEFROSTING AND DEFOGGING SYSTEMS."' MY CAR WAS MANUFACTURED IN 09-2013. THE PROBLEM I'M HAVING IS I AM ONLY ABLE INTERMITTENTLY TURN ON MY AIR CONDITIONING, HEAT, AND DEFROST SYSTEM. IT DOES NOT MATTER IF THE CAR IS IN MOTION OR IF IT IS PARKED FOR THIS TO OCCUR. WHEN THE SYSTEM DOES TURN ON, EVERYTHING WORKS FINE. THIS IS A CAR I'M STILL PAYING ON AND I'M NOT EVEN GAURAUNTEED TO BE ABLE TO USE THIS BASIC SAFETY FUNCTION WHEN NEEDED. THE DRIVER RELEASED THE BRAKE PEDAL; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE JERKED AND BEGAN TO HESITATE. IN ADDITION, THE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, IT SEEMED AS IF IT WOULD STALL AT ANY MOMENT. THE CONTACT RAN ANOTHER DIAGNOSTIC TEST, WHICH RESULTED IN THE SAME FAILURE MESSAGE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE RECALL WAS FOR THE 2013 MODELS AND NOT THE 2014 MODELS. THE MANUFACTURER OPENED CASE NUMBER: 8/3551621673. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,600.

AFTER I CAME TO A STOP, PULLED OVER TO TUN OFF THE IGNITION, MY RADIO WAS STILL ON EVEN AFTER I OPEN THE DOOR WITH THE KEYS OUT OF THE INGNITION. I AM EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED WITH THIS PROBLEM AND I ATTACHED AN IMAGE OF THE MESSAGE. I REALLY HOPE THAT GM HAS A RESOLUTION FOR THIS.
THE REASON FOR THIS COMPLAINT IS BECAUSE I BELIEVE CHEVROLET HAS DEFECTIVE ABS SENSOR EMBEDDED IN THE WHEEL HUB OF THIS VEHICLE. WE PURCHASED TWO OF THESE CHEVROLET MALIBU CARS A COUPLE MONTHS APART AND HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM WITH EACH. ONE OF OUR VEHICLES WAS OUT OF WARRANTY (VIN [XXX]) AND REPAIRS COME AT A COST OF $450.00 PLUS PER OCCURRENCE WITH UNDER 65 THOUSAND MILES. WE HAVE SUFFERED THE SAME FAILURE TWICE WITH THE OUT OF WARRANTY VEHICLE LESS THAN 2 MONTHS AND 3 THOUSAND MILES APART. AFTER DOING MINIMAL RESEARCH AND COMMENTS MADE BY THE MECHANIC AT OUR SMALL DEALER I BELIEVE THIS IS A MUCH LARGER PROBLEM THAN A COINCIDENCE. PEOPLE PURCHASE THESE VEHICLES WITH THE ABS - TRACTION CONTROL AND EXPECT THEM TO FUNCTION PROPERLY WITHOUT EXPENSIVE REPAIRS AS REGULAR MAINTENANCE. I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED FURTHER. AS OF TODAY THERE ARE NO RECALLS FOR THIS DEFECT. I HAVE OPENED A SERVICE REQUEST WITH GM [XXX] THIS VEHICLE HAD A SENSOR FAILURE WHICH IS EMBEDDED IN THE HUB ASSEMBLY. THE SENSOR FAILURE DISABLES THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM OF THE VEHICLE. THE ENTIRE HUB ASSEMBLY HAD TO BE REPLACED. THIS FAILURE HAPPENED WITHIN THE CHEVROLET BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY PERIOD CONSEQUENTLY IT WAS REPAIRED UNDER THE MANUFACTURER WARRANTY. SO I CAME HOME AND TURNED CAR BACK ON AND NOW EVERYTHING SEEMS TO BE WORKING PROPERLY. WE DONT KNOW IF THIS IS AN EARLY SIGN OF SOMETHING GOING OUT OR IS GOING TO BE OUT IN THE FUTURE BUT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE YOU CAN BE DRIVING AND WHAT IF THIS HAPPENS AGAIN......

IF THE PASSENGER LIFTS THEMSELVES OFF THE SEAT, THE SYSTEM THEN RESETS AND EVERYTHING RUNS PERFECTLY. THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN EVERY TIME SOMEONE IS IN THE SEAT. SOMETIMES IT HAPPENS ALOT, AND SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T HAPPEN FOR DAYS. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, I HAVE 6 PAGES OR ERROR CODES SHOWING A LOSS IN COMMUNICATION. I BELIEVE THAT THERE IS POSSIBLY SOMETHING LOOSE OR THAT A SENSOR IS GOING BAD, HOWEVER, THE DEALER IS UNABLE TO LOCATE THIS PROBLEM.

THIS CAR HAS BEEN DAMAGED FROM THE DAY WE PURCHASED IT, WE WERE FINALLY TOLD IT WAS MORE THAN LIKELY TIED DOWN TOO TIGHT ON THE DELIVERY TRUCK. HENDRICK CHEVROLET NORFOLK VIRGINIA DEALER SERVICE FOUND GM HISTORY CODE DTC U0121 FOR THIS FAILURE. MY 2014 CHEVROLET MALIBU SUDDENLY AND FULLY CEASED OPERATING WHILE STOPPING AT A TRAFFIC RED LIGHT IN DOWNTOWN NORFOLK VA; EVEN LOST ALL ELECTRICAL INCLUDING THE EMERGENCY / HAZARD LIGHT NOT OPERATING. THE CAR WENT COMPLETELY DEAD WHILE TAKING FOOT OFF OF BRAKE AND PRESSING ON GAS PEDAL AFTER TRAFFIC LIGHT TURNED GREEN; ALL DASHBOARD DISPLAYS WENT DARK. IT TOOK 3 ATTEMPTS TO RE-START THE CAR OVER A PERIOD OF 11 MINUTES (PAUSED FOR SOME TIME AFTER 2ND TRY). VERY DANGEROUS FOR MY WIFE WHO WAS DRIVING DURING THIS INCIDENT! WE THEN BROUGHT THIS CAR TO HENDRICK CHEVROLET NORFOLK SERVICE DEPT. WHO FOUND CODE DTC U0121 INDICATING "LOSS OF COMMUNICATION WITH THE EBCM" ON OUR CAR COMPUTER HISTORY FOR OCT. 27 2014 CORRESPONDING TO THE DATE AND TIME OF THIS INCIDENT. THIS DEALER INFORMED THAT THEY HAVE RECENTLY SEEN ONE ADDITIONAL PROBLEM OF THIS SAME TYPE FOR ANOTHER OWNER OF 2014 CHEVROLET MALIBU, WHO JUST HAPPENS TO BE THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THIS DEALERSHIP HENDRICK CHEVROLET NORFOLK VIRGINIA. THIS DEALER SERVICE VISIT IS DOCUMENTED ON THEIR INVOICE NO. [XXX]1 DATED 10/27/2014. MY WIFE AND I ARE NOW EXTREMELY CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THIS CAR WHICH HAS THE CHEVROLET STOP-START ENGINE TECHNOLOGY.
