TAKATA RECALL , IT MAKES A VIBRATION NOISE & WON'T GO OVER 40MPH
SINCE I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE AS A USED AUTO ON JAN 24, 2012, I HAVE HAD 10 INCIDENTS OF TIRE PROBLEMS, AS LOW AIR, FLAT TIRE, ETC CAUSED BY WHEEL RIMS CORRODING CAUSING BEADS ON RIM AND NOT HOLD AIR PRESSURE; HAVE REPLACED 30 LUG NUTS; AND GROUND RIMS APPROX 12 TIMES. AM TOLD THAT THE RAPID DETERIORATION OF THE RIMS TO CORROSION IS DUE TO ROAD SALT MIX USED ON LOCAL AND INTERSTATE ROADS. APPEARS THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DESIGNED FOR THIS AREA; FEAR IS WHEN A TIRE GOES, IT COULD BE AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. ALSO HAVE DISCOVERED THE ALUMINUM BODIES OF THE CARS ARE RUSTING MUCH QUICKER. MOST RECENT INCIDENT WAS TODAY
WHEN MY CAR IS IN MOTION IN THE STREET, TURNING, BRAKING AND DRIVING SLOW MY TRACTION CONTROL COMES ON AND SAYS REDUCE ENGINE SPEED AND THE LIGHT FOR MY ENGINE COMES ON. I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS CAUSING THIS PROBLEM AND I DONT HAVE ANY INVOICES, ANY POLICE REPORTS NOR ANY INSURANCE CLAIMS
TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM SENSOR/LIGHT STAYS ON. WON'T RESET. HAD TO TAKE TO DEALER. THIS IS A KNOWN COMMON PROBLEM WITH CHEVY/GM VEHICLES. TIRE PRESSURE WAS GOOD, ALL TIRES WERE GOOD (SET TO MANUFACTURER'S SPECS.)
I WAS DRIVING DOWN HWY 85 AROUND 5;30AM AND JUST PASSING EXIT 20/NEW HOPE WHEN I HIT A HUGE POT HOLE IN THE ROAD ON THE FAR RIGHT LANE. AFTER HEARING A LOUD NOISE I PULLED OVER AND SAW THAT MY RIM WAS CRACKED OPEN ON THE FRONT RIGHT SIDE AND SLIGHTLY SLIT ON THE REAR RIGHT TIRE.
REAR WHEELS CANTER ARE OUT OF SPEC AND CANNOT BE SET PROPERLY RESULTING IN WHEEL WEAR AND TIRE REPLACEMENT 5000 MILES INTO NEW TIRES. ALSO THE WEAR IS ON THE INSIDE OF THE WHEEL SO THERE AREN'T ANY VISUAL INDICATIONS OF WEARING UNTIL THE TIRES BLEW OUT. I HAVE SMALL CHILDREN THAT CANNOT BE PUT IN THAT TYPE OF DANGER. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE REAR WHEELS HAD EXCESSIVE TREAD WEAR. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS AND THEY REPLACED THREE REAR SETS OF TIRES AND PERFORMED THREE ALIGNMENTS. HE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER IN REFERENCE TO TSB NUMBERS 10026504 AND 10026484 (WHEELS) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THEY WOULD ONLY REPLACE THE COMPONENT ON THE POLICE AND STATE VEHICLES. THE TIRE INFORMATION WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 26,000.
