FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Chevrolet Equinox all-wheel drive vehicles. The fuel tanks may have been manufactured with an improperly sealed seam, possibly allowing fuel to leak along the seam near the fuel inlet.

Fix: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel tank, free of charge. The recall began October 24, 2019. Owners may contact GM customer service at 1-586-596-1733. GM's number for this recall is N192271870.

Your engine is shutting off unexpectedly without warning, especially when starting up or driving on the highway, and the vehicle shakes and loses power when this happens. You're also hearing a strange gulping sound from the rear of the vehicle that suggests a fuel system problem. This creates a serious safety risk because the engine could die at any time while you're driving in traffic, and the dealership hasn't been able to identify the cause yet. The fix will likely involve diagnosing the fuel system (pump, fuel filter, or fuel injectors) and the engine's fuel delivery and ignition systems.

You notice a gas smell and see gasoline dripping onto your driveway from under the car, appearing to come from the top of your fuel tank. The leak only happens when your tank is full and the outside temperature drops below 20 degrees. The fuel system likely has a cracked or damaged seal that expands/contracts with temperature changes, and the repair will involve inspecting and replacing the faulty fuel tank seal or filler neck component.

You noticed a strong fuel smell coming from the driver's side of your vehicle while driving, with no warning lights appearing on your dashboard. A mechanic diagnosed a failed sealed seam on your fuel tank, which needs to be replaced to stop the leak. This repair will involve removing and replacing the fuel tank.

Your car lost the ability to accelerate while driving. The mechanic found that the high-pressure fuel pump that sends fuel directly into the engine had snapped off, with a broken bolt in the cylinder head and a leaking steel fuel line between the pump and fuel injectors. This prevented fuel from reaching the engine properly. The repair will likely involve replacing the fuel pump, bolt, and fuel line.

I had an issue starting the vehicle. Once it started the check engine light was lit. I stopped at the nearest Autozone for a diagnostic check and the code P00C6 registered for Fuel Pump. I had the vehicle checked by a mechanic and he explained to me this vehicle has (2) fuel pumps. One in the fuel tank and one on the engine, which is considered a high pressure fuel pump. That is where the failure is and the pump requires special tools to install. It is something they can not do and recommend the vehicle go to the dealer. Thank you for taking time to read this & be well.

I have had my vehicle in for repair three times for an EVAP code. The first visit they found nothing wrong. The second visit they placed the EVAP canister. The third visit they said if the light comes on again it's a faulty part. The light is on again. Since the first occurence, I have noticed the some of the same issues that were reported for the 2020 Equinox fuel pump issues, e.g. hesitation, choking,

I see that she is a leak from my fuel tank, so when i researched it online i see there was a recall on it previously. From my understanding this is a safety hazard. It also states there arent any open recalls on my vehicle but i want to make sure this was completed and replaced.

Gas gauge will not go all the way to full. It stops just over 3/4 of a tank, no matter how much fuel you put in the tank. There is no way to accurately determine how much fuel is in the vehicle at any point and time. This is a safety hazard because we could be stranded on the side of the road, not knowing the vehicle would run out of fuel. Also, occasionally when you crank the vehicle, you get a strong odor of fuel in the cabin, when running the A/C. There is nothing specific that is being done differently, and it does not happen every time. We bought this vehicle on 9/18/22 with 27,602 miles on it and as of today, it has 28,594 miles on it. After purchasing it, we noticed the fuel gauge issue and I researched it online, finding out it is a common issue and GM claims to have no idea how to fix it.

THE VEHICLE STARTED LEAKING GAS FROM THE TANK AT THE REAR AFTER SITTING FOR 20 MINUTES. THIS PROBLEM HAS ALREADY BEEN RECALLED ON VEHICLES OF THIS CALIBER AND YEAR, JUST THE ALL WHEEL DRIVE VERSION. NOT EXACTLY SURE HOW LONG THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON BECAUSE I TYPICALLY DON'T GO BEHIND THE CAR. AS FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE, THE WARNING LIGHT ON THE MIRROR STOPPED WORKING AT ABOUT 15,000 MILES. VERY POSSIBLY SOONER.

UNKNOWN, BUT MAY BE THE FUEL TANK ITSELF OR THE WIRING IS MY GUESS. I FEAR WHATEVER IS WRONG COULD BE EFFECTING THE ENGINE. ON APRIL 12, 2020 MY CAR DIDN'T FILL ALL THE WAY UP WITH GAS. THERE WAS A LITTLE BIT LEFT THAT NEEDED FILLING. I WAS CURIOUS WHY & SENT A PICTURE TO MY MOM. THE CAR SEEMED TO BE WORKING FINE UNTIL JULY 2019. UPON FILLING IT WITH GAS, THE PUMP KEPT SHUTTING OFF ON ME. I TOOK IT INTO THE AUTO REPAIR SHOP TWICE (JULY & AUGUST) TO HAVE IT FIXED FOR THE SAME ISSUE SO FAR & THEY STILL HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO FIX IT. THE PROBLEM GOT PROGRESSIVELY WORSE, AND AFTER THE FIRST VISIT IN JULY, MY CAR WOULD NOT FILL WITH GAS AT ALL ANYMORE DURING THE SECOND TIME FILLING IT UP. I HAD TO BORROW A RENTAL FROM THE AUTO SHOP WHILE THEY TRIED TO FIX IT FOR THE SECOND TIME. I EVENTUALLY GOT MY CAR BACK, AND WHEN I TRIED FILLING IT UP WITH GAS ON THE SAME DAY I GOT MY CAR BACK, IT DISPLAYED THE SAME ISSUE. THE PUMP KEPT SHUTTING OFF ON ME. NOW, MY VEHICLE IS DOING A WEIRD SURGING FORWARD MOTION WHEN I'M BARELY PRESSING ON THE GAS.
