There is a SB-10058723-5799, that addresses airbags. I have a 2011 Chevy Equinox with 94k miles on it. The ‘service airbag’ error stays on the screen. I called Chevy to ask if I can bring vehicle in under SB 10058723-5799, and they told me my vehicle does not fall under this, AND they say the SB 10058723-5799 is expired. I asked they lady, so if the airbag deploys while I’m driving 65mph on the freeway, you’re not going to fix it under a recall that you say is expired. This makes absolutely no sense, and I believe it should fall under NHTSA’s special bulletin. Please help me. Thank you for your time.
Traveling at low speed in driveway. When the side airbags deployed for seemingly no reason. There was no collision, did not run over anything etc.
The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated was driving at approximately 35 MPH when another vehicle cut in front of the contact's vehicle and the contact crashed into the passenger's front side door. The contact stated that she was unable to depress the brakes and her vehicle began to climb the side of the other person's vehicle. The contact stated that the driver and passenger air bags and side air bags did not deploy. The contact stated that the vehicle disengaged from the other contact's vehicle and rolled off the roadway onto a grassy shoulder and stopped. The contact had lacerations and bruises on her neck, and neck vertebrae injuries. Also, she had bruises on both arms and wrists and lower back pain. The contact did not know what injuries the other driver suffered. The contact was taken to the ER by ambulance. The contact's vehicle was towed to her residence where the other driver's insurance adjuster inspected the contact's vehicle and declared it a total loss. The vehicle had not been repaired, however, the contact purchased the vehicle back from the other person's insurance provider. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure and had assigned an investigator to check the air bags. The failure mileage was approximately 89,000.
The airbag light stays on. It’s a known problem with this vehicle. Hundreds of owners online with complaints. I believe it has to do with faulty wiring under drivers seat. I’m scared the bag will intermittently inflate. GMC has to know about it. It’s happening on all the equinox vehicles. Thank you

DRIVING HOME I WAS APPROACHING INTERSECTION IN WHICH A FEW CARS WERE BEGINNING TO MOVE AS I APPROACHED THE RED LIGHT. ON A COUNTY HIGHWAY, UPON SEEING THE SLOW START, I BEGAN BREAKING. UNFORTUNATELY I CONTINUALLY PUSHED BRAKE PEDAL TO FLOOR NUMEROUS TIMES WITH NO ABILITY TO STOP AND RAN MY VEHICLE UNDER BACK END OF A FEDEX DELIVERY TRUCK. ONE HEAD ON COLLISION OCCURRED MY AIRBAG CANISTERS INITIATED BUT BUT THE AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED AFTER IMPACT I DID RECEIVE INDICATOR NOTIFICATION STATING AIRBAG SERVICE REQUIRED. PRIOR TO THE COLLISION O HAVE HAD TOTAL REBUILD OF MOTOR FROM BLOCK UPWARD BY GMC I REPORTED THAT NUMEROUS TIMES WHILE ON HWY MY CARD WOULD SUDDENLY STALL/ LAG . GOING FROM 65-70MPH DOWN TO 20-30MPH. HAVE HAD ENGINE MAINTAINED WELL AND CHANGING OIL ETC WAS TOLD ALL 3 TIMES I TOOK IT IS IT RESULTED NOTHING THAT COULD BE REPLICATED. THE SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON UPON STARTING IT ONE MORNING , BUT HAVE NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. THE CAR HAS A TOTAL OF 58,863 MILES ON IT. CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS HAPPENED!

THE PROBLEM WITH THIS ACCIDENT WAS THE AIR BAGS DID NOT GO OFF CAUSING INJURY TO MYSELF AND MY WIFE. I ESTIMATE THE SPEED AT COLLISION TO BE AROUND 30MPH. I WAS TRAVELING WEST BOUND AT ABOUT 630PM IN THE EVENING, ON A FOUR LANE CITY ROAD WITH A CENTER TURN LANE. I WAS IN MY LANE AND FAILED TO STOP BEFORE HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. MY WIFE SPOKE WITH THE REPAIR SHOP CLERK WHO INFORMED THAT THIS WAS A COMMON ISSUE WITH MANY EQUINOX'S UNDER THE SAME CONDITIONS. I BELIEVE THE AIR BAGS SHOULD HAVE GONE OFF AND THEREFORE I

I HAVE BEEN READING ONLINE AND IT SEEMS LIKE THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE CHEVROLET EQUINOX AND CHEVY NOR GENERAL MOTORS HAVE PUT A RECALL ON THE DEFECTIVE AIR BAGS. DTC INCORRECT B0081 (RIGHT SIS INSTALLED) AND B0074 (PASSENGER OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SENSOR CIRCUIT) SEEMS TO BE THE CAUSE.

I WAS DRIVING 79MPH DOWN INTERSTATE 295 WHEN A VOULCHER FLEW INTO MY FRONT DRIVER SIDE LOWER CAR PANEL CAUSING THE AIR BAG CANISTER TO DEPLOY BUT NOT THE AIRBAG ITSELF. THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND THE SERVICE AIRBAG CAME UP ON MY DISPLAY. I CONTACTED STATE PATROL AND THEY CAME OUT TO SEE THE DAMAGE BUT COULD NOT FILE A REPORT. I DO HOWEVER, HAVE THE STATE PATROL OFFICERS NAME AND EMAIL ADDRESS. I HAD TO GET MY CAR TOWED AND TAKEN TO A GARAGE WHERE AN AIRBAG SPECIALIST CAME OUT AND CLAIMED THAT THE AIRBAG SYSTEM WAS MESSED UP AND IT HAD TO BE REPLACED ALONG WITH MY SEATBELTS. I WAS NOT INJURED LUCKILY BUT IT IS SCARY TO KNOW THAT MY AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY.
MY HUSBAND AND I PURCHASED A 2011 CHEVROLET EQUINOX ON 8/20/14, MILEAGE 29,548 FROM CARMAX IN GLENCOE IL. WE ALSO PURCHASED THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. SHORTLY AFTER WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE THE SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND I WOULD CONSTANTLY HAVE TO CLEAR IT FROM THE SCREEN SO I COULD VIEW THE DIGITAL SPEDOMETER. I MADE A CALL IN REGARDS TO THE ISSUE AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE. I WAS VERY FRUSTRATED AND CONTINUED TO DEAL WITH THIS ANNOYING PROBLEM FOR QUITE SOME TIME. IN MAY 2015, MY FATHER URGED ME TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT BECAUSE HE FELT IT WAS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. SO I MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR 7/1/15 WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT THE PLACE WHERE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. MILEAGE AS OF 7/1/15 WAS 39,609 AFTER THEY TOOK A LOOK AT THE VEHICLE, THEY INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE CONNECTORS. ALTHOUGH THE PARTS WERE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, I STILL HAD TO PAY FOR THE LABOR TO THE TUNE OF $250.00. I AM NOT SURE WHY THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL BECAUSE THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A SAFETY ISSUE. I ALWAYS GET SCREWED OVER :(

MY AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. I JUST PURCHASE THE VEHICLE LESS THAN 90 DAYS. THEY STATE THE AIR BAG WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. HOWEVER, THE TECH STATES THE TSB PART IN THE PASSENGER SIDE IS OUT IN THE AIR BAG. I AM SURE THE DEALER KNEW OF THIS ISSUE WHEN THEY DID THE DIAGNOSTIC BEFORE THE CAR WAS SOLD TO ME. MECHANIC AT DEALER STATES THAT ALL OF THEM HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE WIRING CONNECTOR AND IT IS A 10 MINUTE FIX, BUT WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY 350.03 TO FIX. I THINK THIS SHOULD BE MADE A RECALL AS EVERYONE'S' SAFETY IS AT RISK. *TR

THE MILES FOR THE WARRANTY HAD NOT BEEN EXCEEDED BUT IT WAS 3 MONTHS OVER THE EXPIRATION DATE. THE CONSUMER FEELS THE REPAIRS SHOULD BE FULLY COVERED DUE TO THE FAILURE BEING A SAFETY DEFECT. IS SPECIAL ORDER PART, HAVE TO LEAVE CAR AT DEALER FOR 1 OR 2 DAYS FOR REPAIR. PROBLEM IS FAULTY CONTROL MODULE UNDER FRONT PASSENGER SEAT, AFFECTING ALL AIR BAGS. WHEN I READ ALL THE REPORTS OF OTHERS WHO HAD SEEN THIS SIGNAL IT SEEMS VERY SIMILAR BECAUSE IT DOESN'T STAY ON. I HAVE READ THAT IT COULD BE A SEAT BELT TRIGGER OR CAUSED BY THE HEAT, BUT I AM VERY CONCERNED AS THIS IS CERTAINLY SOMETHING THAT IS A SAFETY CONCERN. I DROVE THE 2011 EQUINOX TO THE GYM PARKING LOT, FROM UNPAVED TO A PAVED PARKING LOT. I DROVE SLOWLY WITH THE SPEED ABOUT 5-8 MPH, WHILE LOOKING FOR A PARKING SPACE . SUDDENLY, THE AIR BAG IN FRONT OF ME, AND THE OTHER AIR BAGS DEPLOYED WITH A BAD SMELL. MY RIGHT ARM AND HAND WERE INJURED AND BLEEDING, AND MY INDEX FINGER WAS HURTING. THE NEXT DAY, I FOUND MORE BLUENESS IN BOTH ARMS, AND THEY WERE SWOLLEN, AND MY INDEX FINGER WAS STILL HURTING. THE POLICE OFFICER TOLD ME THIS WAS NOT A CAR ACCIDENT, AND HE WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO GIVE A REPORT. I CONTACTED CHEVROLET THE SAME DAY, 04/02/13. A THIRD PARTY INSPECTOR DID AN INSPECTION ON 04/08/13 AND SENT THE REPORT TO THE COMPANY. THE REASON I BOUGHT THIS CAR WAS FOR ITS SIZE THAT SEEMED MORE SAFE THAN A SMALL CAR. I DON'T UNDERSTAND. 1. HOW AND WHY THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED WITH NO CAR ACCIDENT? 2. WHY ALL THE SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED WITH ONLY THE DRIVER IN THE CAR AND NO ONE IN THE BACK SEAT? 3. FROM MY UNDERSTANDING, THE AIR BAGS ARE SUPPOSED TO PROTECT PEOPLE IN A CAR ACCIDENT, NOT INJURE THE DRIVER WITHOUT A CAR ACCIDENT. 4. IN THIS SITUATION, THE AIR BAG HURT THE DRIVER, WOULD I BE ABLE TO USE THIS CAR TO DRIVE ON A ROUGH ROAD OR A COUNTRY ROAD? I WAS INFORMED TO CALL A NUMBER. I CALLED THE NUMBER TWICE AND LEFT MESSAGES. VOICE MESSAGE STATED, I WOULD BE CONTACTED BY A CASE MANAGER WITHIN 24 HOURS. BUT, MORE THAN 24 HOURS HAD PASSED, AND NO ONE CONTACTED ME. MY CAR IS STILL AT THE CHEVROLET DEALER. PLEASE HELP ME, AND ALSO HELP THE COMPANY TO MAKE SAFE CARS FOR CONSUMERS.

MY WIFE HAS A BAD BACK, 4 VERTEBRA LOWER BACK OUT OF ALIGNMENT ! MUST USE A DONUT CUSHION ! DEALER TELLS US, THAT'S THE WAY IT IS !!! I DON'T BELIEVE THAT. WE HAD TO RENT ANOTHER VEHICLE WHILE OURS WAS IN FOR PAINT !! WE RENTED A CHEVY MALIBU, THREE DAYS, MY WIFE USED HER CUSHION. 2011 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. CONSUMER STATES AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY DURING CRASH *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED ANOTHER VEHICLE PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF HIM FROM A SIDE STREET, ON HIS RIGHT SIDE, WHICH RESULTED IN THE CONSUMER HITTING THE OTHER VEHICLE, WHEN THAT VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP AT A STOP SIGN. THE CONSUMER STATED THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. *JB
LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAGS ON A CHEVROLET EQUINOX 2011 DEPLOYED AFTER THE LEFT FRONT TIRE BUMPED A CONCRETE HIGHWAY DIVIDER. THE ONLY EXTERIOR DAMAGE WAS A FLAT TIRE. BUT THE DEPLOYMENT OF BOTH INTERIOR SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS CAUSED $3400 WORTH OF INTERIOR DAMAGE. NO PERSONAL INJURIES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A DEER. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY; ALTHOUGH A POWDER RESIDUE EMITTED FROM THE AIR BAGS. THE FRONT SEAT PASSENGER SUSTAINED SORENESS IN THE CHEST AREA. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE AND WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT AUTO CENTER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,436.
I WAS RECENTLY IN A PRETTY BAD FRONT END VEHICLE ACCIDENT GOING ABOUT 45 MPH WHEN I REAR ENDED SOMEONE. MY CAR HAS BEEN TOTALED DO TO THE DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. MY AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY IN THIS ACCIDENT, EVERYONE ONE I HAVE TALKED TO FROM THE TOWING COMPANY TO THE PARAMEDIC ON SEEN SAID THAT IT SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED.

THE CONTACT STARTED THE IGNITION AND NOTICED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR TURNED OFF WHILE A PILLOW WAS POSITIONED IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THEY INFORMED THAT THE AIR BAG FUNCTIONED CORRECTLY AS DESIGNED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 800. UPDATED 3/14/11*CN THE DEALER SUSPECTED THE SEAT WAS HEAT SENSITIVE. UPDATED 04/25/11
