Filed: Mar 2026

Your 2024 Colorado is experiencing an intermittent problem at highway speeds where the speedometer becomes erratic, the vehicle loses its speed signal, and acceleration reduces unexpectedly. Warning lights appear for Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Traction Control, along with error code P215B. The dealer attempted repairs but the problem returned within 2 miles of pickup, raising serious safety concerns for highway driving. Fixing this will likely require diagnosing and repairing the vehicle speed sensor circuit or related electrical connections that communicate speed information to your vehicle's control systems.

When you come to a stop, your truck suddenly downshifts into first gear, which causes the engine RPMs to spike and the vehicle to lurch forward even though you're pressing the brake pedal. This has happened repeatedly since you bought the truck new in January 2025, with no warning lights or other symptoms appearing. The forward lunge creates a serious safety risk because it can happen unexpectedly while you're braking, potentially causing a collision.

Your brake pedal felt spongy and went soft to the floorboard while driving, and your navigation system shut off without warning. You also got false OnStar alerts saying your truck was being stolen, your Forward Collision warning light came on while parked, and your seat belt tightened unexpectedly. Your 12-volt battery voltage dropped significantly. The dealer was unable to fix these issues when you brought it in.

Your heat may blow cold air intermittently even when set to a high temperature, caused by O-ring seal failures on the radiator and heater hoses that leak coolant. This coolant loss can disable your heating and cooling systems completely, creating dangerous situations in cold weather or heavy traffic. Some dealers are denying warranty coverage by claiming the cooling system isn't part of the drivetrain, and repair parts are on backorder with weeks of wait time. The fix will involve replacing the faulty O-ring seals and radiator/heater hoses to restore proper coolant circulation.

Your 2024 Chevy Colorado has a leaking upper radiator coolant hose that GM has issued a service bulletin about due to a degraded seal in the hose fitting. This is causing your check engine light, low coolant warnings, coolant leaks, high fan speed, and loss of heat. The part is on nationwide backorder and unavailable at dealerships, with a 1-2 week wait time, and your warranty won't cover it as GM classifies it as a wear part. The repair will involve replacing the entire upper radiator coolant hose assembly.

Your radiator is leaking at the upper fitting where the hose connects. Chevrolet will replace both the radiator and the hose to fix the leak.

Your radiator hose failed after less than 1.5 years of ownership, which appears to be a manufacturing defect. This type of failure can cause your engine to overheat and potentially suffer serious damage. The replacement parts have been on backorder for months, leaving you without a quick repair solution. Your dealer will need to replace the radiator hose and may need to inspect the cooling system for any related damage.

Your truck unexpectedly shifts down from 2nd gear to 1st gear, and this problem got worse as you drove it. Once the transmission warms up, it happens repeatedly and causes the truck to shudder with a knocking sound from the transmission, feeling like you've been hit from behind. Your dealer replaced a valve in the transmission's valve body to fix the issue.

2024 COLORADO TB purchased new on [XXX]. About 3 days later with 150 miles logged parked in my driveway I noticed OIL spots and leaking. Drove to dealer and they kept it for around 3 days. Dealer contacted GM to supply data points and information. GM had a bulletin placed for REAR MAIN OIL SEAL AND GASKET failure they attributed to faulty parts from original plant inside U.S. Dealer received authorization and billed warranty pulled tranny (allegedly) and replaced rear main oil seal gaskets to stop leaks. Had truck back in 3 days with much pressure and calls noting it was a brand new truck. A few quirks and lights I'm monitoring NOT related to this noted issue stated. GM was attempting to determine how many trucks these faulty gasket seals affected. Dealer was good about providing rental free and turned truck around quick. Extremely odd and quirky for brand new truck with 150 miles logged but I guess things happen it is what it is. I read all the other blogs and statements noted here so I wanted to include this one. I bought a 2024 Colorado Trail Boss on May 31 and after a week the truck broke down I made a stop in a T intersection, once I had a clear path I started to accelerate and in that moment the truck jerked and at the same time I heard a loud noise under the back of the car. It felt like if I had been accelerating in neutral and suddenly changed gear to drive. After that, the car continue moving but after a few seconds the truck started to lose power and going super slow I tried to accelerate but the truck did not respond. I was able to pull off the road and stop in a parking lot. after that the truck no longer moved forward or backward regardless of what gear the car was in...the car didn't move again. he truck was towed to a Chevrolet dealer, and after two weeks, the service advisor informed me that the issue was with the transmission valve body. When this happen my family was with me in the truck, Luckily, nothing serious happened and I was able to get off the road.

I was driving the vehicle up a mountain, in a 70m speed zone, when the dash board lit up. The vehicle started to decelerate, I pushed the gas petal but it just decelerated. I put on the emergency light and continued to the exit. Stopping in Liberty Pa, at an Exxon station. Called GM roadside assistance. On-Demand Diagnostics stated: ECM-Engine System code P00700. TCM P0658, TCM P2729, and P281D. Odometer reading 3840. Remaining oil life: 49%. Our safety was compromised by the unexpected deceleration of the vehicle and possibly being stranded on the road. Was luck to get off the highway safely. The car was towed to Jack McNerney Chevrolet, Inc. 363 NYS Rt13, Tully, NY 13159 +13156968976. The car has been at the dealer since the night of [XXX]. Have been told that the car is not drivable. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
