You noticed a gas smell the night before, and the next day your car suddenly stopped on the highway after driving a few miles. A large amount of fuel was leaking from the fuel hose connected to your fuel tank, making the vehicle unsafe to drive. The car had to be towed to a repair shop, where they'll need to remove the fuel tank to determine which parts are damaged.
