Your BMW's parking assist feature (which automatically controls steering and braking along a preset path) may fail to engage if the car is still rolling slowly when you press the start button, even if you're pressing the brake pedal. The system showed a confirmation message suggesting the feature was active when it actually wasn't, causing your car to roll backward uncontrolled down a driveway instead of following the preset path. This resulted in a crash into your house. The issue appears to be that the system doesn't require the car to be completely stopped before accepting the command, and doesn't alert you if engagement actually failed.

Your rear view camera display can be completely blocked by other screen elements when you use the infotainment buttons while in reverse. This happens consistently and forces you to shift back to Park and then into Reverse again to see the camera feed properly. This may not comply with federal safety requirements for backup cameras.
